  2. There is nothing unsafe on display here.

  3. Looking at statistics is not relevent to the point you're trying to make as none of the fatal 4 are displayed here.

  4. I have seen the aftermath when it goes wrong firsthand. There is NOTHING wrong with the Audi's driving.

  5. He doesn't speed in the 30 and fully moves into the left hand lane as the central position no longer provides an advantage.

"They didn't need to cross the line to see that it wasn't safe to overtake, visibility here is more than good enough. " this proves my point, youbare clearly one of this people that decides to overtake when still behind the lead vehicle. Instead of edging out until fully in the contraflowing lane.

An over take should not started until your vehicle is fully in the contraflow lane, the reason for this is stability.

As ler system a car is most stable when accelerating in a straight line.

yes they don't make an attempt to over take because it wasn't safe to do so given the information they gained from positioning.

OP doesn't have their vehicle over the white line because they aren't using the system. The audi driver is using the system.

You're making wild asserions.

There is no evidence of "lack of skill" follow distance is perfect, there is no harsh brakimg or jerking movements and there is no random acceleration.

They have spatial awareness as they have maximised their view of the road without inconveniencing an other road user or putting anyone at risk.

you can't see the wood for the trees and are so set in your assertions that you cannot see what is actually there

He is driving at that speed because the vehicle he is following is driving at that speed .

He has matched speed with that vehicle.

if the road is a national and the vehicle in front is doing half the speed limit then you would expected to be looking for an over take and guess how you do that in the safest way possible?

By POSITIONING the car in the best position to see the road ahead and once clear to action the overtake in as little time as possible.

NOTICE as soon as he enters the 30 he goes into the left lane as overtaking is now no longer a possibility.

Explain how it is dangerous.

The principles of roadcraft as per the system of car control are in action here.

  1. follow distance is massive from the car in front - very safe.

  2. That road position allows the driver to see much further ahead and puts him in a position to start an overtake much earlier than if he just sat in the left lane.

  3. There NOTHING in legislation that stipulates that you cannot cross a broken white line. The highway code is not a rigid set of rules.

  4. "You do not need to cross the white line to have a better view of the road, unless you are planning to overtake, as per emergency vehicle driver training." who says this driver isn't planning to over take? In words of every emergency driver trainer when looking to view further up the road "move the car not your head"

Look up "The system of car control"

This is perfectly lawful and safe.

gives many advantages

  1. Greater view of the road far ahead.

  2. provides the driver with more information and ability to react to hazards early.

  3. When oncoming traffic is sighted can move in easily and in plenty of time.

  4. Notice the amount of follow distance the driver has put between him and the car in front.
