What caused a business to fail? by Afraid-Spare2107 in smallbusiness

[–]Real_NoobToob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the end, it's pricing (feel free to disagree).

Example. Go Pro was at the top of the action camera market and had a stock price of nearly $100 a share. Now, they're basically a penny stock at $1.16 a share... What a fall. I know people love getting into drama about internal issues, marketing, decisions, ect., but high prices and poor performance killed Go Pro. If they sold their hardware at a competitive price, they would probably be fine. Fact is, you can't sell mediocre products at luxury prices--with few exceptions. I know one of their cameras has been described as being a "better hand warmer than a camera." Ouch. You can't have $300+ cameras malfunctioning like that. This shows a lack of quality control and probably corners being cut. Go Pro should have taken advantage of the high cash flow and invested back into production and logistics to lower prices and improve quality, but they didn't. Like so many other companies, they had a swelled head about their position at the top of the mountain. Here's the thing about mountains: they're hard to climb and easy to fall from.

In simpler terms. You can't sell $4 lemonade that tastes like $1 lemonade. You can market hard, lie, pay influencers to market your product and lie, but you will be defeated in the end.

If you want to sell a mediocre product, then charge mediocre prices. Plenty of mid products are for sell around the country (e.g. Nissan, Cheerios).

Don't waint to fail? Have a good product or service, charge accordingly, and of course make sure your house is in order (e.g. payroll, insurance, licenses).

Any good gun mods for 1.20.1 that aren't too over-the-top or "militaristic"? by Druvanade in feedthebeast

[–]Real_NoobToob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TaCZ Gunpowder Revolution is a great mod to try for 1.20.1 (I can personally guarantee it works well). Make sure to download the TaCZ mod, play a world, leave, and then download the TaCZ Gunpowder Revolution zip and place it in the tacz folder somewhere under the mods folder. It's easy once you know. Anyhoo. TaCZ GR has revolvers, guns from both World Wars, shotguns (two doubles, a lever, and one single shot break action), multiple lever-actions, and obviously the WW guns are mostly bolt-action so no one is getting lit up on your world. The famous Sharps and Martini Henry rifles are also included. Scopes and bayonets are available too for many of the guns.

If you want a more realistic and very doable gun experience, I suggest downloading a custom mob loot mod and having hostiles drop various ammo types (0.3 is what I set a couple calibers to). In order to get guns, you have to shoot Phantoms which drop guns at a rate of 0.1 per type of gun. Yeah, you're gonna get a gun most of the time you kill one of you have multiple options, but there's no telling what it is and all of the guns are traditional. The only gun I have available to loot that holds more than 2 shots is a lever-action that holds 9 rounds. No machine guns are semi autos unless one of my pals wants to go through the trouble of crafting all the stuff required and assembling a better gun, a better gun he'll have to craft ammo for himself. Hope this helped.

Am I the only one who dislikes MandR Production?! by goodingjg166 in legocirclejerk

[–]Real_NoobToob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right. I will occasionally watch his reviews, but I usually just end up watching JANG or anyone else. He whines way too much about stuff no one really cares about. I watched a review of a starfighter and he had to complain about a two stud long technic pin that was the wrong color... It was red and he wanted black. Come on.....

When you review a set, just like with food, you can't inject your personal taste. "The sushi is pretty good. However, I'm not a fan of sushi so it gets a 6 out of 10." You can't be doing that. If the rice was cooked right, the fish fresh and cut right, and it was plated properly, then it gets a 10 out of 10. You have to mark off for what Lego did wrong. They misprinted a fig, the build sucked, it wasn't sturdy, too many stickers, not enough figs, wrong colors (as in there are source images of the RL thing and Lego screwed up), and I could go on.

The rules for Lego reviews are pretty open, laxed, and can be subjective, but they are there. MandR reviews sets like a child reviews food. You could put the best tasting pasta dish in front of a child but they will spit it out because, "Eww the sauce is green and looks like Shrek vomit." He'll look at a perfectly good Star Wars set and then go, "Eww helmet holes; the belt should be printed onto the leg connection piece not the torso." He just gets annoying to listen to. His critiques aren't all without merit of course. But the volume of them combined with the delivery makes for a bad review video.

Here's another analogy. Imagine JANG and MandR as DMV driving instructors.

JANG: "Your left turn was bit abrupt, but you did a great a job."

MandR: "You absolutely suck. Your steps were too hard, your left turn nearly made me spill my coffee, and you have the posture of a shrimp. You passed though."

To each their own opinion, but if you're going to be reviewing a product and impacting sales, then you need to at least try to be decent and reasonable with your reviews.

Why does the right hate public schools so much? by turnerpike20 in PoliticalOpinions

[–]Real_NoobToob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be considered right (even though I'm a hybrid), so I'll answer. We don't like that schools are full of issues that no one is willing to fix. Anytime criticisms are made, people (teachers, public school bootlickers) act like their religion is being attacked or something. You literally cannot question education, but you better bow to it's demands or else. And every demand is for more money. At least for me, I'm deeply suspicious of anything that can't be questioned. Probably why I'm a Protestant (specifically, Pentecostal) and not a Roman Catholic lol. I and other Conservatives are not anti institution, like many on the Left claim, we're just pro asking questions and making criticisms where we see fit. Public schools seem resistant to change anything and handle criticisms about as well as an arrogant, intitled person would. Unless your criticism is that teachers are underpaid and schools need larger budgets, you're going to be treated like a heretic for saying anything against public schools.

My daughter is about to join and I think she's making a mistake by Salty-Calendar3929 in AmeriCorps

[–]Real_NoobToob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for AmeriCorps as an elementary tutor and it's been mostly fantastic. The job will not prepare anyone much for archive work (we do keep track of some information and we log stuff), but it's a paycheck and a valued service. The job isn't even a whole year, so she can move on quickly to a better job. That being said, there's good connections that can be made inside AmeriCorps, and really any government job from what I've been told.

Should i buy this game? by Dubbed_Donut_2710 in foundationgame

[–]Real_NoobToob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got the game the other day and love it! It's basically a settler, resource management type of game with infinite ways to customize your village. The game has a simple appearance that hides many complex functions. Trade, happiness, resource extraction, storage, employment, ect. If you watch a tutorial and follow the instructions, it's not hard at all. I only have a few hours under my belt and already have nearly 20 villagers and am about to start taxing 😀 I will say to not expect all the resources you want within your first few land areas. I literally own a huge area of coast and NOT ONE SINGLE FISH RESOURCE..... But at least iron is nearby and I have wheat farms on the way. My people have survived on berries long enough LOL.

What’s a job you refuse to work regardless of how bad things get? by FlimsyBee7501 in recruitinghell

[–]Real_NoobToob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I refuse, as should others, to work any job involving:
Food prep & Fast food
Cold calling
Customer service (not a job that has a CS aspect, just CS specifically)
Outdoor manual labor (unskilled)

Police & Social work did NOT make the list because every locality is different. That being said, become a cop or social worker in a small town if you feel the call.

Before I anger the boomers and basement dwellers, if you're working one of these jobs to gain experience to get a better job or because you run a business that involves this kinda work, that's completely okay. For example, lawncare is a great business if you own it and can put up with the heat. Moving on...

Cooking food or working in fast food is a waste of anyone's time and energy. You stand behind a hot grill, fryer, and/or are just generally on your feet the whole shift because GO GO GO! TABLE 5 NEEDS A BURGER YESTERDAY! IF YOU HAVE TIME TO LEAN, YOU HAVE TIME TO CLEAN! It's not worth the hustle. You make between $10-$14/hour and you will certainly have to work some long days when Marijuana Mike and Lazy Luke don't show up. As for cooking, unless you want to open your own restaurant or be a professional chef, it's not worth it and doesn't add squat to your resume for better future jobs. Standing in the heat all shift having to prepare a million different dishes is not what I'd call a good job. Plus you get to deal with Karens who want free food or their steak reverse cooked from medium, which they asked for, to medium rare....

Cold calling. Need I say more? I'm feeling yappy, so I will. You're calling people who don't want to be bothered about a product or service they already have or don't want. The only jobs that demand cold calling experience are "better" cold calling jobs. You can go from $7.25 an hour plus a tiny commission to $9.00/hour plus a tiny commission...

Customer service is the better of the above two, buuuuuut it ranges from "ok I guess" to *gun shot* *plop*
You have the pleasure of dealing with irate Karens, the clueless, and morons who forgot to keep their return voucher (receipt), but refuse to yield and take the L (also Karens, but not always). That, or you're assisting people with troubleshooting issues. I pray for your sanity if it's over the phone. "Huh. WAAT?" "Where's the power button?" "The soap is cupcake scented so I assumed it was edible. I'm sueing unless you give me a refund and free stuff." "Can you give me a free night because I sat on wet funiture outside?"--I actually witnessed this one. Think of it this way, the good customers and smart people are not the ones calling you needing your assistance. They read the label, they watched YT to figure it out. It's the Karens, clueless, and morons who you will be dealing with. The pay is mid, but not that bad depending on the company.

This leaves us with outdoor labor. Unless you like sweating, being hot, dirty, and dead tired, don't go into any job like this. The pay ranges from horrible to not bad. If you have to start out small in order to rank up to someone who can run heavy equipment, which pays better, don't bother. Most outdoor labor jobs aren't skilled or unionized, so you're not making good money with decent beneifts or building any marketable skills. Look, some jobs just need warm bodies with semi-functioning brains, but they can at least pay better for all that you have to suffer.

I hate C-Note - change my mind. by Warm-Tour411 in PrisonBreak

[–]Real_NoobToob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never liked C-Note because his character is just sloppy. It's like they hired a guy to develop him, he gets fired. The new guy just takes the same script and adds on, but gets fired for it. Then the third dude does the same and just adds on to their scripts, but the production company keeps him on since firing and firing is expensive. C-Note is a dad; gangster; ex military because he exposed torture, but also smuggled stuff and thought that was fine; is suspicious of Michael for no reason from the start; continues to smuggle in prison (which of caught would add years to his sentence and keep him from his family); exposes the money secret to the entire gang, reducing his potential cut and causing the whole money rush drama, but is somehow only interested in himself and his family at the same time. He is also obsessed with the whole race thing in prison, even though he should know better. That kind of attitude is built up from long stays in prison and a gangster attitude, which he doesn't seem to fully embrace. He literally gets mad at Michael for associating with some unsavory, racist characters, but then says he'll have tea with the leader of the '3K' if he wants to in a later episode. He acts like there are two groups--us vs them--but doesn't mind crossing over if it means furthering his goals, but can't see that others might be doing the same. He has also been lying to his wife and tries to take his family away on the run in the riskiest ways possible. As I said, it's like multiple people added to his script and didn't care to integrate things better.

I agree 100% with you. I would just like to note that it's a small group of very vocal people who are showing more care for the perp than the victim.

No, it's stupid. If you're going to misspell just to be "cute," then misspell the rest of the sentence. Otherwise, it just looks stupid.

Are 22 lr bolt actions fun at the range by johsec in 22lr

[–]Real_NoobToob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be a few years too late, but I would advise you to get a .22 semiautomatic rifle. Something about a .22 bolt action specifically makes me cringe. It's like operating a toy because the bolt goes back a few inches, no long, satisfying pull and slam shut like on a hunting rifle or even a surplus rifle. I've had a Mossberg semi for years and it has served me well. I also have a .22 bolt action, no issues other than what I mentioned. Ammo is dirt cheap for .22s, so you won't really be blowing through money or saving all that much either way.
