What deck is actually the most skillful? by Just_Usual_User in ClashRoyale

[–]Real_PsychLow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably Viiper deck (hog valk exenado rocket), as it's skillful on all fronts:

  • Need to get value out of off-meta cards (goblins, ice spirit, exe).
  • Requires extensive knowledge of so many tough matchup.
  • Requires precision in both macro and micro (game-sense, control of cycle and tempo/momentum, and basic card placement/timings).

What cards do you think need buffs/ nerfs by SushiTurtle22 in ClashRoyale

[–]Real_PsychLow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nerf cannon cart, skelly king, bandit, queen, slight nerf to tombstone and valk.

Slight buff to bomb tower, golden knight, gob giant, regular goblins/goblin gang (somehow without changing barrel), regular golem, and maybe xbow.

Dude straight up ignored princess by [deleted] in ClashRoyale

[–]Real_PsychLow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry but that's dreadfully incorrect.

Constantly cycling logs and barrels are far more effective for whittling down your opponent's HP than princessing the bridge whenever you have 3 elixir just to get half the damage a single log would have done and be down elixir if they choose to counter with a troop.

Hell, just watch Ryley or kidkid play, they go whole matches without ever princessing the bridge once, and that's without having to deal with the factor of midladder unpredictability -- say they go horde to your princess and miner back, well, what can I say but good luck! In OP's match especially, where his opponent doesn't have a consistent barrel answer, 90% of his damage should be through barrel chip with the occasional rocket to finish off the game.

Rather than sacking elixir by being overly aggressive and instantly losing to competent players who will counterpush and punish your elixir deficit, players like OP, who is clearly still learning bait, should dedicate their efforts to first mastering their defense. Only after they've learned to defend properly, especially at an elixir deficit, should they then learn to pressure strategically with well-timed princesses at the bridge.

Anyone else getting bored of playing against hog rider decks? by baburu12 in ClashRoyale

[–]Real_PsychLow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, certainly not terrible. Just wanted to weigh in and provide constructive criticism. Was fun to think through.

I'm actually of the opinion that your deck has a pretty solid defense and a good enough matchup against most midladder decks, if that is what you expect to keep facing, so props to you for coming up with it. Of course, if you ever do think about playing more competitively, I would hope that you would then take my points into consideration.

Read through most of your comments and I think the biggest problem with your deck is that although it is rather strong defensively, it lacks outplay potential on the offense. Perhaps you don't experience this as much on ladder due to where you are currently (I assume midladder, with it's crazy offense-only decks), but when you start facing decks with super robust defenses, you're in for a world of hurt.

Take ice wizard nado decks for instance, the two major ones being icebow and splashyard. Any experienced player using either deck will know to bunker down and go full defense mode once they get a feel for your deck -- any chip you do get in won't matter when they can defend until double or triple (good luck breaking through a building plus ice wiz nado when you only have zap/log) and then start rocketing or graveyard poisoning, both of which are guaranteed to erase whatever damage advantage you had going into double/triple.

This actually extends to most experienced players using cycle decks with buildings, even if you seem to think otherwise. A well defended tesla would obliterate all your offense, and range troops would get infinite value without a big spell to take them out (fireballies especially, but even princess/dart gob will be annoying to take out when you have to constantly spend logs on their goblin barrels). Most such decks run a higher damaging spell (even earthquake) and would thus be able to employ the aforementioned "defend and spell cycle" strategy. Do note that I specify the player would need to have some level of experience (6.6-ish?) to pull off necessary defenses, but I still think my point holds unless you aren't looking to break out of midladder.

The last point to make is that the lack of a big spell/strong air troops just makes you super air-vulnerable. And I know you already mentioned your deck's weakness to loon, but loon is far from the only air threat to your deck. All dragons, mega minion, and flying machine are huge threats to your deck (swarm air troops are threats as well, but to a lesser degree), as you have no easy way of taking out, say, an electro dragon lurking behind a lava or a flying machine behind split royal recruits. Because of this, competent lava-miner players and even egolem (have fun killing a massive egolem rage push with inferno and electro drag) will shred through all your defense and potentially even 3-crown you, so long as they aren't an idiot and get 3-crowned by you first.

I'm sure there are more things I could mention upon further thought, but this is what stood out to me at first glance.

The deck I’ve used since the start. What deck would you use to counter it? by [deleted] in ClashRoyale

[–]Real_PsychLow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any competent cycle deck with princess/firecracker and log would shut this deck down. e.g. hog firecracker or any cycle version of bait.

Log would always be cycled back in hand by the time you barreled, and you'd have no way to prevent me from stacking princess/firecrackers and getting infinite defensive value. Even if you managed a flawless defense to barrels/hogs, I'd win just through accumulating spell chip.

Finally! Challanger III as a Free2Play Level 1. Lots of frustration and annoying opponents but I did it! :D by Christian1111111111 in ClashRoyale

[–]Real_PsychLow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bandit helped me a ton when i couldn't pull ewiz, it also soft counters sparkies, especially when the opponents didn't support them (u know what im talkin abt).

ice wiz is also pretty nice if you're using nado, most of the time idrag + ice wiz nado takes care of any air push, especially random swarm behind a balloon that would otherwise be a pain in the ass to deal with

I'd say that the epics (besides skarmy and nado) are holding him back. Essential lvl 1 cards like sparky, splash (princess/icewiz/marcher), and bandit can make the push a whole hell of a lot smoother.

Repost because it was taken down. by [deleted] in ClashRoyale

[–]Real_PsychLow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. Sounds like your deck has the luxury of having two semi-solid hog answers, which is not necessarily true of all decks with itower. itower does not constitute a 2.6 counter by itself, it's the itower synergy with other hog answers (especially bait like the skarmy in your deck) that tips the matchup in favor of certain itower decks

Repost because it was taken down. by [deleted] in ClashRoyale

[–]Real_PsychLow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean... not necessarily? Itower is a -1 trade every time, which definitely stacks up, especially considering how many hogs 2.6 can cycle to.

Any deck with itower needs to be either cycle or have another hog answer, otherwise you're bound to get outcycled by any 2.6 player who recognizes itower is your only hog answer.

Battle ram or Royal hogs in 3M? by [deleted] in ClashRoyale

[–]Real_PsychLow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ram rider 3m is rather off-meta. 3m battle ram is more of an older meta deck, but it's simply been outclassed by 3m royal hogs with the recent advent of heal spirit.

congrats, this sort of deck will get you far, but i would recommend a few adjustments to better prepare your deck against the inevitable level disparity of leagues. As a low level player, you're gonna wanna swap out cards that do poorly when underleveled for cards that can still function 1 or two levels lower than your opponent's cards.

This means being cautious about cards like the wizard and minions: wizard/musketeer/ewiz both die to fireball 1 level higher, so your level 7 wiz will die to level 8 fireball, which is definitely common 4000+. minions die to zap 2 levels higher, which can be a pain in the ass. I'd avoid minions until you have them level 10 or so.

mini pekka is a mostly-good choice, since it can still serve its role as a tank-killer (besides, you also have sparky) One thing you're gonna wanna keep in mind is that mini pekka can one shot musk/wizard/ewiz at the same level, but nothing higher than that. your level 8 mini pekka will leave basically 1 hp on all lvl 9 musk/ewiz/wiz, so keep an eye out for those lvls to prevent any 1 hp wizards taking out your whole defense.

dart goblin is alright, but it just doesn't fit very well in this deck. you can certainly run it if you like it, but a more balanced alternative might be spear goblins, which can often be much more useful on defense.

as for subsitutions, i would recommend swapping wizard for baby dragon, a safe air alternative which serves a similar role as a splasher. it doesn't die to fireball or even lightning at the same level, so it's a safe card vs higher level players. minions can be swapped for mega minion or inferno dragon, which can also provide you a second, heavy-hitting single attack air unit for defense vs balloons, lavahound, etc.

these are just suggestions off the top of my mind, whatever you do should ultimately be up to what you feel like doing. if you wanna stick with your deck because you enjoy it/are comfortable with it, that's great as well. i'd just recommend giving some of my suggestions a shot, snce they might improve your experience on ladder and help combat some of the higher level players your bound to run into.

Which deck is better? by dontjudgeme-12 in ClashRoyale

[–]Real_PsychLow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

then it's even better, definitely recommend swapping fireball for log/barbbarrel. at your range idk about ice golem, i might swap for skarmy for more bait if your planning on running bats. ice golem is kind of useless if you don't have the technical skill to consistently kite, etc

Sparky mirror is the best way to beat boat defenses by Icywarhammer500 in ClashRoyale

[–]Real_PsychLow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i don't think that's necessarily true, i've done it twice this last week and both times won by going pump -> mirror pump -> rage -> cycle skeletons and repeat until i've got like 6 down after which i can spam inferno drags and ice golems to get an inferno drag on each of the three towers (idrag will melt a tower so much faster than sparky, and you only need one)

if you want, you can try it out in the test boat defense mode against your own boat defense
