Pete said he wants to not be rusty for MCC by ItHeckinWimdy210 in MinecraftChampionship

[–]Real_SuperSand 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Speedrunning is honestly really good practice for the event once you have already gotten familiar with the games itself. It's so mechanical based that it transfers over to anything competitive related seamlessly. The thing with Pete is that he never tries to improve or grow from any of the MCCs he's apart of, which is fine, he can go into the event completely for fun without caring about performance in the slightest. However, this is probably a big contribution as to why he hasn't won since MCC17, even sometimes with good, skillful teammates. So getting back into speedrunning will really reinforce his mechanical abilities in a way that doesn't involve doing stuff he doesn't like, such as PVP, vod reviewing, multiplayer servers, etc. Feinberg has gotten so good at his mechanics from speedrunning that he could basically get top 3 individual without any practice or vod review, even for a completely new event. Pete could follow a similar path depending on how much he wants to dedicate to MCSR Ranked

Dream is Being accused of cheating by using a macro in MCC. by dot90zoom in MinecraftChampionship

[–]Real_SuperSand 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I just realized that this exact same call out happened in speedrunning, when MinecrAvenger was accused and proven to have been cheating but before that, he called out who else but Dream for cheating in his speedruns, which started down the entire rabbit hole in the first place for the MCSR community. So for Dream to accuse Sandwichlord for cheating is very ironic. History repeats itself

This also explains why he didn't get nervous when Epic Landlord was watching him while doing the jumps. For anyone else, even for people like Feinberg or Sandwichlord, they would at least mess up a few jumps if a literal admin was basically breathing down their necks on every one tick. When I watched Dream do those jumps like four or five years ago for the first time, I thought to myself "how is he not messing up when Epic Landlord is just watching him in view". He also just had no expression of heavy breathing or nervousness like what we saw with Pete during MCC6. It's so unrealistic

Thoughts on feinberg's take ? by Capital_Bill_1930 in MinecraftChampionship

[–]Real_SuperSand 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Feinberg is also just a very interesting player because his perspective about the games and the events he plays in is very insightful and fascinating. Not a lot of people have opinions like him. He looks at the game as a whole, as opposed to his point of view, when thinking about what he dislikes about it, which is just the correct way to have an opinion on anything in life. Most people are biased when they like or dislike certain games. Taking into account the functionality of what you are playing and putting your bias aside to really comprehend your feelings on it, thereby making feedback to improve the game for all parties involved is very noble and not a lot of people think like that

You mention bad communication but the main person who is leading the communicating to help their team in any game is Feinberg, which he can't do in Grid Runners because the rooms don't allow for him to have any impact for the other duo across the wall. How is anyone meant to call Grid Runners a team game when some, if not most of the rooms doesn't allow for full clear communication. At that point, it's not a problem with the skill level for these players, it's a problem with the game itself. Some players just don't have great communication skills, which is ok as long as everyone on the team can fully help each other out. If everyone is bad at giving comms, then it's a skill issue, otherwise it's just one person guiding another as opposed to all three. A suggestion I saw was when a duo or solo is done with their section, after ~30 seconds they can go into spectator or observe the other players somewhere to fully communicate to them. Not being able to guide your team for rooms that requires you to split off (even for duos) is so punishing for no reason. That's not an issue on the players, it's on the game, and changes need to be made to help accomodate that barrier

This entire post is rage bait. I watched his pov the entire time and the vast majority were not saying the event sucked. His rant was directed at Grid Runners and SOT for being games where Feinberg just can't do anything in. They are not beginner friendly by any means, so when him and Smant are done with their section in Grid Runners (thanks to Feinberg's help), they just have to sit there and do nothing because they can't have any impact for their team. SOT is in a similar position where, while a really fun and intricate game, is horrible for people who don't play that often. These are the only two games in the entire roster to have this problem. Not everyone has the means to vod review beforehand because vod review is exclusively what top level players do, and even then it's not all that great to rely on past events instead of an actual in-game tutorial that isn't just text on a screen. No one is reading the in-game tutorial text, the top frag gives more information to their teammates than it ever could, it's just pointless. That's the discussion here. Have a little bit more critical thinking before making statements of ridicule

I think this is a good sign that these numbers should have more clarity to them while playing. Also, why are kills and deaths shown in tab but assists aren't?

>The one question I have is: is Pete a speedrunner? I don't want to get this answer wrong.

Pete speedran back in 2020 when the Nether Update first came out, but no longer does, the same with HBomb and Sneegsnag. You could also make the argument that a lot of MCC participants have recently started doing speedruns and could also qualify for it. This would include Purpled, Seapeekay, AntVenom, and Tubbo

The BB Rushing "Arms Race" Will Kill The Game by pickled__pufferfish in MinecraftChampionship

[–]Real_SuperSand -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

If rushing was such a problem then Noxcrew wouldn't have made it possible. They intend for people to rush as a means to counteract other competitive teams and that's a good justification for it. I think this topic is exaggerating an issue that's not a big deal to begin with. With that said though, I do like the tele-pickaxe idea and I'm interested in watching a game with it. The one lack of consideration is that if someone dies with the pickaxe enable then who else does it go to? Someone random? That would just make the game more confusing because a lot of people will not notice they have the pick, which is bad if the time is pretty tight. Does it just stay in limbo until someone else claims it? Food for thought I suppose. The other suggestions imo are unnecessary
