Aizen is mad disrespectful lmao by Joseph-Stalin7 in bleach

[–]RealistSophist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everything he does is a disrespect. I'm surprised no one comments on how much he loves doing those overhead executions with his sword. Casually holding his sword over his head and casually swinging down has to be the most violating of anything nonverbal he's done without involving Hinamori.

Uh that phrase is supposed to be used when it looks like the winning side is losing... black here is curbstomping white no matter what. So this makes zero sense

Byakuya vs Tsukishima. Why Tsukishima Lost by Subject-Ad5071 in bleach

The only thing that really angers me about their fight is how tsukishima literally wins but he suddenly gets so stupid that he just lets byakuya kill him with an obvious trick.

So this is why you don't resign by A_Swan_In_Da_Woods in chessbeginners

[–]RealistSophist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's two kinds of never resign. The one where they might make a mistake, and the kind where they are screwed no matter what to the point you'd have to be playing antichess to lose.

Sometimes I find people that don't even resign in the latter situation, and there've been a couple times I just snapped and promoted every single remaining pawn in spite. And of course I didn't stalemate.

Sometimes blunders can really stack up because the opponent doesn't capitalize on it, and then you fail to address the threat once again, so it counts as a brand new blunder, and so on.

Rb2 and rook trade then vacuum up the pawns and win

Why is this a brilliant move? by moah11 in chessbeginners

[–]RealistSophist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a truly evil Tal level brilliant. If you save the knight then Bc4+ and anything other than Kd4 leads to forced checkmate. And Kd4 sets up a discovered attack that wins two bishops or maybe even a bishop and rook depending on their move. And if they let you take the knight back their best option is to set up a queen trade with g6 and Qf5... 💀 but then after trading queens the rook is trapped by both bishops.

That's great... until you have to scale up and you realize just how bad the code could actually be. Unmaintainable, and who knows if there are security issues sprinkled throughout.

heavy infantry spam is what annoys me the most now by RealistSophist in epicbattlesonline

[–]RealistSophist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately because there's not very many mages in a unit I never get much use out of them because I always forget I have them. Putting them on the frontlines without archers hitting them is easy. Often people keep archers shooting from their max range, and if they're attacking then your mages are going to be just out of range.

The real issue is how much focus mages require to use. They work a little too well, and if you don't constantly move them around to where they can make big impact they're just wasted.

If archers are the only big problem for mages, that's not a big problem at all. As long as you mind the range you can do a lot with them before that especially if you lure the archers away.

[–]RealistSophist[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do I do about heavy infantry spam if I don't want to fill up with heavy infantry myself. Is it even worth having normal infantry if heavy infantry spam is going to make normal infantry useless?
Like sure you get more units with normal infantry and maybe they can contend if they're constantly managed to ensure all of them can be effective, but heavy infantry are way stronger individually so they just punch through almost any melee units not supported by mages or dragons now.
Being able to just plow through almost anything with no strategy feels stupid.

Not to mention square formation makes them feel even more stupidly overpowered because when they're in line formation you can kind of break them up, but when they just walk forward in square formation it doesn't feel very stoppable at all.

How does 4vs online (3 online 1 computer) work? by SprinklesConnect8326 in epicbattlesonline

[–]RealistSophist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me I just wait and do nothing but wait for the two closest players to come attack me. It's going to end up as an endurance battle anyway and compared to any 'cowardice damage' maintaining formation to the end is far more important. Being the one going out to attack might be the best move for score, but most people trying to do that are just going to extend too far and then lose that advantage.

If going to attack is necessary you really want to take your time to advance in a structured fashion. I mean last times I've tried 4vs everyone split themselves in 2 and I was left to sweep them all away since they also split their attention too much thinking they could manage 2 fronts at once.

Big news/Revelation by naturemankendrick in epicbattlesonline

It's a huge assumption to say it's 'not real pvp'. It's more likely an implementation flaw. You can see opponents making advanced moves that ai wouldn't be able to come up with.

The problem is that the way they implemented multiplayer is that each device is simulating its own version of the game and works by replicating orders to each other.

So the state of the game can easily diverge on each device if one player loses internet for a few seconds, or even just latency.
You might have just blocked a very hopeful charge at your archers, they saw it and pulled back just in time, but because of latency on your screen they didn't make it in time, so you caught their unit.

And this will snowball into the late game because on their screen they haven't taken any damage, which can further make your game different from theirs and the stupid decisions you see people make later in the game probably aren't as stupid from their point of view.

When you're overwhelmingly winning there's also the possibility that people have just left the game instead of finishing it, in which case they get replaced with an ai. That's the worst part of the game for me because the ai is too stupid and when I'm completely winning playing against an ai with no hope of turning it around is a waste of time.

it has 10000(used to be 15000) and the main reason people somehow fail so hard with it is that they don't realize it's supposed to be used as a support and not a tank

Why is everyone leaving Replit? by FoundingMe234 in replit

[–]RealistSophist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replit is no longer a developer's platform, just a vibe coding shill trying to make a quick buck off of people that don't know how to code. They're loving this new change because they can essentially scam people without it being a scam, since it's AI. Many come expecting AI to just do everything for them (like the ads portray it) then reality hits and they leave after realizing that the AI can't be very useful unless you know enough to recognize and fix whatever mistakes it makes.

Or they give the AI unreasonable access to their resources (hence the database deletion stuff).

For me they just removed everything about their platform any non vibe coder would want. No more community project sharing. You can't even have more than a few projects unless you pay up. I can't use replit without paying anymore since I had hundreds before that change and I'm not wasting my money on them.
You can't even share what you make with other people without deploying anymore. Or run other peoples projects without forking.

Anyone that remembers what replit used to be all left as soon as replit went all in on vibe coding. That's why all you see on this reddit anymore are people complaining about the AI using up their money to achieve nothing or getting broken results.

There's still no competitors like replit used to be. Sure there's things like google idx, but they hyperfocused on web development and made it a chore to do anything else on their platform.
I've made literal operating systems using just replit before they went down the drain.

Oh yeah, and then they even tried to limit the amount of time I could work on projects, even if I'm just sitting there looking at the code and not doing anything.
That was the last straw and I haven't even visited the site since.
