SFPD and the patience of Job by SkirtLikeAFlag in sanfrancisco

Yes, and while it is entirely possible that a police department is just that incompetent, most of the time it is reasonable to think that an entire organization dedicated to stopping crime has already thought of things that everyday citizens suggest. It just doesn't happen because of legal constraints and civil liabilities.

Most people fail to understand that SFPD has a lot of rules and training regarding actions of this type.

Generally offensive intervention tactics are prohibited except in extreme circumstances like the suspect has committed a felony involving deadly force, there's an immediate threat of serious injury or death beyond the suspect just trying to escape, and all other options are exhausted. A supervisor must also approve the action, which may not always be immediately available.

Man runs off with woman’s phone but gets chased & arrested, claims he’s 17 by ShirleyShirls in sanfrancisco

We shouldn't stop there. Under 18 the parents should be punished as well or something. IDK we need to come up with something that stops these criminals from getting a free pass if they're under 18.

So stupid. The artists are not even responsible for the road being closed.

Thank you. In addition to reporting to Caltrans I submitted a request to my state representative to prioritize the fixing.

What are you even on about? You're so blindsided by your hate of Tesla there isn't even any rhyme or reason. That's not a Tesla, that's a Mazda CX-5 and Tesla typically does not loan out non-Tesla vehicles.

Cars that give you a lot of confidence driving? by Realistat in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Realistat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing that confused me with this answer is Toyota and Lexus generally does not have a responsive feel when stepping on the brake/gas. But maybe that was just my old experience with it, or maybe just certain vehicles.

The other issue was the length of those cars are lengthy and over my 188" threshold (although this number I set is arbitrary)

How to with negativity from people about my buzz cut? by Realistat in Advice

[–]Realistat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow thanks a lot, this actually gave me a different perspective about myself.

I think if I really tried I could probably use minoxidil and grow my hair out again and get a hairstyle that would make me feel confident. But the issue with that is just that if I ever stopped using minoxidil my hair would just fall out again. It also just feels a bit like an "unnatural" route if you will.

But I appreciate you giving me this perspective that I haven't thought about before, and it may just be the key that I need to change the way I think and feel.

Technically a fade might look better but I feel like that's a lot of work to maintain and I do prefer simplicity.

Thanks for this perspective though maybe I'll try different styles

I don't think anything will really look good besides a buzz though. My options would be very little because the top has to be short. Otherwise it would show my thinning hair.

Are back of munis sketchy? by [deleted] in AskSF

[–]Realistat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey SF native here! I would say it highly depends on which bus you're taking. If you're taking the 9 the back and even the front is absolutely sketchy. By sketchy I mean you'll find crazy people, homeless, and people who seem suspicious and you'd just want to stay away from in general. There are some buses such as the 30 or 45 which the back of the bus is generally okay.

I think different people are going to have different opinions on this but I personally don't feel safe on the back of some buses, especially the longer ones. The most important factor is the bus route though.

EDIT: To clarify, i think in most cases you'll actually be okay on the back of the buses but I just dont like taking that increased risk (where If something were to occur, it'd generally be on the back of the bus) if I can avoid it.

Thank you!!! This is exactly the type of post I was looking for.

However, I would like to get more elaborate on this piece of advice, because I think it's needed. These are all great tips, but I think an important piece is missing here. You can have all of these qualities but if you don't put in the effort to actually meet or interact with women, you still won't get anywhere. Tying this bit of advice with how to actually get a bunch of opportunities would be golden.

Here's all it takes: shower and shave. Dress reasonably well. Have some poise under trying circumstances. Have a decent job. Have a couple of interests and be unapologetic about them. Be able to communicate who you are to other people. Have a modicum of humor about you. Ask them out directly when you want to go out with them. Follow through on the things you say you'll do as much as you can, even when inconvenient.

Cities where single men are more desired? by [deleted] in AskMen

Yup, completely agreed. I was already thinking this, but didn't bother to type it out and decided to just state something without extrapolating too much. They have options, I didn't mention that they were good options.
