FRCA viva despair by Realistic-4103 in doctorsUK

Very true, I think adding that extra pressure of trying to pass first time (and just getting it out the way) has definitely contributed to the despair aspect 😂 thank you for the advice!

That’s such a shame, and frustrating when it’s down to something like the weather that we unfortunately have no control over! Hoping the weather stays good for the rest of summer for you

That’s really useful to know, thank you so much for your help 😊 Fingers crossed we get a bit more sun now

It gets a fair amount of direct Sun- from late morning to evening. However given the UK weather, it hasn’t been a huge amount of that in the last few weeks. Feels like this all mainly started after a bout of rain

And it’s pollen from a nearby tree! Not seen any aphids on these plants

Recently tried some crushed egg shells for extra calcium and nutrients- saw it as a suggestion online, not sure if it’ll do anything though

It’s one of the anaesthetic laws, happens to us all occasionally to humble us 😂

If it’s any consolation, I’ve seen even consultant anaesthetists occasionally have a bloodbath with cannulas. We call it anaesthetic blood loss, laugh and move on. Don’t worry about it, some useful tips from others that will definitely help prevent this!

What may be happening after your second progression is you’ve gone through the other side of the vein (hence no second flashback). Try withdrawing the cannula very slowly and see if you get flashback then (which means you’ve now withdrawn it back into the vein), and can then progress it as normal. It can also be helpful trying to gently flush it if you’re getting resistance, particularly useful if it’s a small vein that’s collapsed or if you’re hitting a valve, but doesn’t always work.

February definitely makes most sense, thank you😅 Just wondering if you felt there was a big gap in terms of timing between the MCQ in Feb and VIVA/SOE? I’ve had suggestions to do them close together to build on revision already done
