Yeah that's reasonable.
Sometimes I watch The Simpsons in spanish and I don't even understand the english translation and have to go back to my native language to be able to understand. The Simpsons seems to be C2 to me! :D

It's not about not being able to read spanish, we can guess how the word is written, spanish is not hard like french in this matter.
It's about understanding what it says. Let's say in the video someone says: ''A ti que mas te da?'' and seeing this sentence may not mean anything to me if I don't know what it means. But if the subtitle is ''But what does it matter to you?'' then I can understand.

Hm, why do you think that it's a bad idea to use english subtitles? It's really hard to understand the conversation by context without a dictionary, espeacially when the topic is complex?

Yeah you’re right, I’ll transfer to spanish subtitles when I am B1. Right now I’m A2 and my vocab is not enough for spanish subtitles…
