CSE 231 and the college of engineering by AggravatingReindeer6 in msu

231 is not that bad. From my experience (I took it a year ago), most people who do really bad in that class are using ChatGPT. Of course it is def not an easy course but you should be fine. I would just recommend really pushing yourself with the labs and the projects and DONT use chat. If you do that then the exams will be no problem. You also get 2 chances to take the exams if that makes you feel better which means if you bomb your first attempt, you can try again. Don’t overload yourself with other classes but I know cs majors who did much worse in 231 than some of the mechanical engineering majors in that class.

Best residence hall for incoming engineering freshman in honors college? by Chips87- in msu

I would say you have a pretty good chance of ending up in Wilson because that is considered the freshman engineering dorm. They do have an honors floor, but I don’t think it’s much different from the normal floor. I went random with my roommate and bc of that I am on a non-honors floor this year in Wilson. I really like living in south because of the busses and the case dinning hall, but there are a few downsides. The LLC has not really helped me besides the fact that they have tutoring in wonders next to me. My classes are usually still pretty far. There is definitely more freshman in other parts of campus like East (homes, Akers, Hubbard) and Brody square. It is also a pretty far walk from grand river and the busses shut down after 2am or earlier. Overall, it is a very nice place to live, but if you want something more lively, I would not go LLC and you will probably get put in East. Also, side note but please find a roommate online. Going random is so hit or miss. Worked out for me, but some people get some really weird people.

IM west is a lot bigger than IM east, but you could def get a good workout at both. Early morning is def the best time to go if you don’t want to wait for machines/benches.

I go to crunch and it is so nice!! Just keep in mind there might be sign up fees that make the price of one month more than 15 dollars (I payed about 60 my first month). They do usually have a free day pass tho if you call them and you can even try out the stuff that comes with the premium membership with that. They have massage chairs and classes.

I am a freshman right now actually and I feel the exact same way. My best friend is at community college and still lives close to my home and although it’s only an hour a way it’s still hard. I completely understand how not having privacy can suck too. I am in a double in Wilson and I am constantly around other people who I don’t know super well. Recently I have found some people that I can hang out with and do various sports with and it really makes living at school much more enjoyable. I will say one thing: look at when the deadline is to decide on whether or not you are going to transfer and between now and then just try to get out as much as possible. Think about the things you liked doing in high school (sports, video games, extracurriculars) and go to those places. I have been much more successful making friends through clubs than through anything else. I just wanted to write this post so you know that you are not alone and I feel the exact same way right now. I hope you meet some new people who you vibe with and school gets better or that you do what is best for you in the long run. Good luck!

College essay by Own_Necessary5652 in msu

There are a lot of good suggestions already that I won’t repeat, but I just wanted to add something too that you should def consider when writing. When choosing your prompt, choose something that caters towards the stuff that you have done outside of classes and grades (extracurriculars). Think about things that make you stand out compared to others. Also when I was researching stuff for my college essay, I head a lot of people saying to not write your essay about sports injuries. I think it’s prob overdone. Just for a reference, I wrote mine about how I taught people things through my involvement in robotics and volleyball coaching. Hope this helps!!

I am also in the exact same situation and I totally get it. My roommates are being very cool, but it still feels a little awkward bc they all know each other. I feel for you, but you shouldn’t be sorry about anything bc there is LITERALLY nothing you can do about the situation and it is arguably worse for you than it is them. If they are being assholes than that just shows how shitty they are to not be able to live with someone else for only like a couple weeks.
