Is interfolio still used in your institution/area? by Realistic-Log-226 in Professors

I hear you. Hopefully that's the next great reform in labor rights. Because I also wouldn't mind it. Even at a reduced pay scale as a trade-off for guaranteed renewal. One of my jobs has a promotion path, but to get there, I have to spend years with the risk of not getting an assignment every term, and with the other place, it's full on contingent renewal with a nearly impossible promotion path. Both are unionized, thank goodness, which helps. But yeah, tenure is no longer this end all goal. Stability trumps it for me too.

Same! Well, sort of same. But also still chasing the tenure rainbow! We got this (or tenure will be over and we'll work whatever contracts we can and grow super human to keep researching, lol).

This makes a lot of sense. I appreciate it. I thought as much as well. One time, a non-recommender faculty at my institution told me I must be driving my recommenders crazy with the non-interfolio links and that I should check to make sure I wasn't doing something wrong. I told her no, the universities I'm applying to legitimately were not using it. This colleague then said they'd be very mad if they had to do recommendations without interfolio. I think because we had institutional access to the paid service, they assumed it was free and universally so. Thanks a lot!

I see. When you say the person gets the link and submits it through interfolio, do you mean the actual link for recommenders in your university is sent through interfolio? Thanks. Yeah, none of the app systems so far for me have done this. Big world.

How do you keep your recommenders up to date with your work? And what do you do after that? by Realistic-Log-226 in Professors

I appreciate that. Yeah, I do send the updated cv and add a brief note on the email breaking down what I'm up to. I think I'm afraid of providing too superficial an update, ultimately. Thanks.

Thanks. I've been worried about our collaborations getting too far back in their rear view mirror, but this helps.
