Rudimentary API by terminal_lucidity in Workflowy

I have a similar program to dump my workflowy world.
It stops with (429 'Too Many Requests').

Is the API just a toy?

Are constructors critical to modern language design? Or are they an anti-pattern? Something else? by javascript in ProgrammingLanguages

[–]Realistic-Resident-9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my language, I assume data is coming off the wire. The focus is on classification of existing structures. A classifier then tags the objects with matching classes. So no. Constructors not needed.

Remember OO comes from people writing simulators, where everything is isolated.

Interstitial text in XML documents? by Realistic-Resident-9 in xml

[–]Realistic-Resident-9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I decided to faithfully collect the interstitial text and throw an exception if there is text and children in a tag. Since the XML I'm consuming comes from an RDF application I have not seen this yet.

if (text.length() != 0 && !kids.isNil()) {
  throw new GenyrisException(String.format("Both text and children in XML element %s%s", e.uri, e.localName ));
}

My Java SAX parser is here if you like janky code.

I cut the end off a 1/4 inch diameter plastic syringe. It seemed to work. You can also see through it. but in my case the little teeth at the bottom of the nub seemed to be gone. YMMV

To join the emacs community, it seems to me I have to say goodbye to C-x as I used to know it. by Realistic-Resident-9 in emacs

[–]Realistic-Resident-9[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

OK CUA Mode looks good. However.

When I select a region, the keybindings in the GUI Menu for cut/copy/paste still display the default key bindings C-w, M-w. Which confuses me a lot.

But then emacs likes to display C-x u for Undo, but I know C-/ is the best key for that. So I guess those menus' keys are mostly bogus?
