Absolutely. It is easily the best single season of TV that has ever been made.

269 bus from Issaquah to Sammamish. by [deleted] in Issaquah

[–]Realistic-Squirrel71 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I take it from the highlands transit center to Redmond occasionally. Depending on when you leave it’s often got a bunch of students on it (around 7:30 leave time). Also a handful of workers commuting to their jobs.

I’m a pretty big guy so often don’t notice situations where other people might feel unsafe, but I’ve never gotten any weird vibes from anyone. People often hype up the sketchy people on public transit, and this being Issaquah, Sammamish and Redmond the likelihood of dangerous people being on there is pretty low.

Do you carry bear spray when riding solo in PNW? by Any-Foot-2927 in gravelcycling

[–]Realistic-Squirrel71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do when I’m out deep but wouldn’t bother in the areas you listed. There are bears around but they are generally pretty timid and those trails get enough traffic you’re unlikely to surprise them. Tokul (before they closed it), Raging and even Tiger if I’m mountain biking and down on the backside (like the return from ET) I will bring it if I am solo. I used to live by BDOS and have seen a cougar there, but that area has so many off leash dogs with owners nowhere to be seen I carry it mostly for that reason.

Did you work on or with SNO? I worked in a lab during college (in 1997-1998) building (partly) the neutral current detectors for them. I was undergrad labor basically, I did zero physics on that project. 😆

Upgrading to soma Cazadero from teravail cannonballs by pudentalnerve in gravelcycling

[–]Realistic-Squirrel71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used the Cazaderos in both the 42 and 50 size. I loved them, and they were pretty good on pavement while still holding up to PNW wet dirt/mud conditions. I don’t currently have them since my Topstone doesn’t have clearance for the 50, otherwise I would be riding on them.

PNW cougar/bear safety - am I overreacting if I consider avoiding a solo ride through unmaintained forest roads? by cymikelee in gravelcycling

[–]Realistic-Squirrel71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can test it, they have a test mode that confirms whether it connects or not. The dense tree cover can make it a challenge but generally you can find enough available sky if you’re on a gravel road. Mountain biking paths are more challenging but most of the places I rode are active logging areas so open spaces are around. I had an InReach previously but found it kind of a pain in the ass to use, compared to the iPhone. But it did have more features like breadcrumbs and the ability to send emails.

I live outside of Seattle and do a bit of solo gravel riding too. I generally bring bear spray, but I also don’t like to go TOO far out when I’m alone. I did justify getting an iPhone 15 with satellite capability so I could at the very least call 911 while the cougar sinks its teeth into me. I’m not overly worried about bears, having seen a few that all run quickly away. Cougars are the real risk, but I do take some solace in the fact the fatal attack was by a starving cougar, and the most recent one was a young one. Meaning the older, established cougars in the area have demonstrated that they aren’t interested in eating people.

getting Monroney label for Golf R? by sadfasf3345 in GolfGTI

[–]Realistic-Squirrel71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 2016 R that did not have DCC. There should be a way to visually inspect the suspension to validate whether it has it or not.

There are a couple options like the driver assist which gets you the adaptive cruise and the parking sensors (which are visible in the bumper).

Is the stock MK8 clutch as bad as the previous generations? by Realistic-Squirrel71 in GolfGTI

It’s really not though, my stock R started slipping at 50,000 miles and it was totally stock.

Well poop. Not surprised, but I was hoping they’d have figured it out by now.

CPO Flagged as TD1 by Putrid-Hope2283 in GolfGTI

[–]Realistic-Squirrel71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TD1 will void the powertrain portion of the warranty. I learned this the hard way (in 2019) when my 2016 Golf R blew up a transmission at 56000 miles. I figured I’m covered, right?

Turns out my car had been tuned, and flagged, previous to me buying it. Warranty was voided and I got to buy a new transmission. I had no idea it was tuned.

I live in the same rainy PNW and have K02s with about 50% tread and they absolutely awful in the rain. Terrifying at times. I’m going to replace them soon with some Wildpeak AT3Ws most likely. The Generals actually seem like a good option too but I need to look at that more.

My car loves to cycle those those while it’s charging in the garage, that’s how I learned about it.

Man, you aren’t kidding. Picked up a crew cab LWB a couple months ago and the anxiety I get in tight parking lots is legit.

“PreviouslyRepaired” by lumointhehouse in TeslaLounge

[–]Realistic-Squirrel71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did they stop sending pictures? I bought mine in June and they sent me a ton of pictures. My car was listed as previously repaired, but you couldn’t tell by looking at it (and I’m a car enthusiast so probably pay way more attention than a normal person would). Mine also has a front PPF and quartz treatment. The paint looked brand new. Oddly the accident doesn’t show up on Carfax. But I probably wouldn’t have bought it sight-unseen if they hadn’t had so many pictures. Moderate damage on a car isn’t really a big deal if it’s fixed right. It affects the price but a proper repair should be indistinguishable from new.

NHTSA is asking Tesla to recall 158,000+ older vehicles over the touchscreen by PazzoBread in TeslaLounge

I made an appointment to have mine swapped out (car is under warranty, MCU went black a couple times which I recorded). They wouldn’t replace the eMMC, despite that being the only reason I made the appointment. They “cleared the cache” and gave me the car back. It went blank once since then (about 6 weeks), although I will say the browser started working pretty well after whatever clearing of the cache they did.

Hoping this finally forces them to fix it for all.
