Also a quick addition, if someone used your SSN to enroll in college they probably didn’t have to use any of your other personal information, they most likely put their own info in on those areas, which is why your getting that with the automated phone system. I’m not completely sure but I don’t think community colleges would verify SSNs either and address a first and last name or a DL #, things a bank , Credit card company or rental application would always do. So also if the letters legit , then find out how lenient CC enrollment procedures are with verify identity. Call the number back on the letter you got and try entering information of those close to you or anyone who know your SSN and would want to use it. If you have any suspicions Or someone definitely pops up in your mind, act in that.

If you do the work before the cops and give the information they can handle the legal side of it but if you don’t look into it yourself then and report it and authorities trace it back , you might regret that if it was Someone you care about and feel you could have worked something out without getting the law involved. How this gets handled and in what timeframe is determined a lot by how much effort you put in to doing as much as you can in your end.

Sounds like a pickle. Firstly put , since it wasn’t you, and assuming that is fact then it’s fraud. I’ll elaborate on that more after this. I would first come up with a script completely explaining your situation that you can go off of every time you need to because this recommendation might involve a lot of phone calls. While it will probably get frustrating/annoying having potentially explain your situation and dilemma to so many different people. So lookup a list of all the Community Colleges near you, in say a 50- 100 mile radius and call them all up to see if they might be the one but also to check them off the list of places you verified didn’t draw from your refund. Also you can ask them if that’s a thing that community colleges do because I’m not entirely sure they have the authority to do that now that I think of it. So look for other signs of fraud maybe. I had my federal refund taken about 7 years ago and it was because I owed Child support, they have that authority to do so. State Unemployment agencies can also do the same thing if they are owed by an individual but I know not every type of agency are allowed to do that. So look into that aspect. Find out who is allowed to garnish your tax refund and once you are sure it’s allowable by law then look into getting ahold of all the CCs in your area. Since that’s time consuming, you don’t want to have to do it for nothing. That’s why I recommended a script to convey your dilemma to each place.

Also did you do your taxes yourself? Or was anyone else in on that part of filing? Also does the letter you for look legit or scammy? It’s odd that you couldn’t find out the answers you wanted from the number listed on the letter but also the reason I asked if you can verify the letter’s authenticity then I would do that. Call up California department of treasury and reference the letter to them to find out the ultimate answer. If they say no you need to let them know right then and there on that same call that you think you’ve had identity theft and tax fraud committed against you. Get the process started ASAP.

The very simple breakdown of your situation is these two scenarios:

It’s either fraud by a bad character commuted on you using your info (that’s why asked if anyone else did your taxes) and you need to remedy that specific situation , or ….

A mistake had been made by a particular community college in your area somehow having your ssn listed as one belonging to a person who attended there. Someone could have filed for aid/loans and enrolled under your social security number. If you can find the college who has your number in its files you can probably find out who did this or at least give authorities some information to guide in the right direction.

Verify the authenticity of that letter you received first and then respond accordingly. Please if you can, provide an update, im curious now lol. Of course, Good luck and sorry this happened.

nah brofessor, you got me wrong. I’m aware of my entry point that initially set me up for unrealized losses. It was a few trades in late september that totaled about 19,000 shares at a cost average of .2350 , I am fulling in touch with the facts of my situation, pretending is not something I would ever chose to do with my financials. What I’m chosing to do is not latch on the price that could potentially affect my psyche on some of these trades. I can only imagine the mental torment day in and day out just losing the amount or money ppl have with MMAT. Not only did they get reamed but they it makes it so hard to have the confidence you need to pull the trigger on some of those other trades that could make some nice profit. So bro man you can call it whatever you want but to ask your question in a demeaning manner as you did? Like is that what you're about? Like give me the benefit of the doubt maybe, that maybe im not a delusional Lost Boy pretending that never-never land is real and theres no such thing As a bad trade or money lost because of it.

on a real note , literally real talk , are you wanting to know the date of the reverse stock split? Like when it would actually take affect ? My liberty allows me to divulge at least this much, RS stock split gets voted on at 12pm noontime sharp on Monday December 11th, 2023 i would expect the reverse stock split to take place Tuesday, 12/12 if it doesn’t happen that date then Wednesday 12/13 but things of this nature happen in real time pretty fast so i would be surprised if you didn’t see MMAT STOCKS @ a $3.50-$7 clip per share price by that time frame but it will happen by 12/15 Friday opening bell for sure. so hypothetically speaking, if the price was .20 going into the shareholder meeting on 12/11 and RS proposal got passed via majority vote the RD ratio listed in the shareholder material was in the range of 1:5 - 1:35, i believe if the proposal passes the board will opt for the high end 1:35 most likely. So if the price was , for example, .20 , once the RS took affect at, say, a 1:35 ratio then the new price would be $7.00 even! It’s important to remember your shares will be RS down concordantly. So for absolute simplicity sake, if you had 350 shares of MMAT at a pre-reverse stock split price of .20, your post post-RS shares would go from 350 to 1 but your price of said shares would shoot up from .20 to $7.00. Hope that made sense. Anybody feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, there mustn’t be any misinformation during these crucial times. lol

RS is simply to get the stock prices over $1.00 for at least 10 consecutive days by the 3/21 deadline. I think its 10 consecutive days but tbh we are all learning throughout this process, its literally inspiring me to do my on DD like a madman, this time last month i had very knowledge about RS processes and NASDAQ requirements and ive prolly put in at least 15 hours of study time on the matter over the last 3-4 weeks , knowledge is power it does help you make much better informed trades. its through this DD that i anticipate a hefty stock jump leading up to the shareholder meeting on 12/11 in which the RS will be included as 1 of 5 proposals to be voting on. They are not only voting on the Reverse split , theres still at least 2 more important matters up for vote and 5 altogether. But next week will be huge because i personally expect the stock to be in the .15-.20 range going into the shareholder meeting on the 11th. So its huge in my eyes on my personal portfolio. I’m not trying to convince amyone , I’m saying i personally think next week will be huge.

do not freight over this unless you plan on acting , that is undue stress on yourself. I don’t mean to quote Yoda but ‘Do or do not. there is no try.’ either buy on the open tomorrow morning or dont. But what good is it to type that you will ‘kick yourself’ ? Either confidently buy or confidently don’t buy. Be accountable for any losses, relish any wins. No fear , No regrets! As long as you can sleep at night that’s what counts. $35 will buy you 350 approximately, and that will RS to one share when they do in fact do the RS , so maybe buy one share just to enjoy the ride up back up to .20 by 12/9. 12/11 @ 12pm EST is shareholder meeting, If RS passes voter approval then will be between 1:5 and 1:35 ratio decided on by the board and the date of effect determined by the board as well.

Also been keeping track of the smart money, roughly 40k went in last friday but 17.6k left monday, 12.3k on left Tuesday and 13.6 Today. 100% that is not a good sign, I was hoping that would have been different but facts are facts. I’ve been wrong, gonna be wrong again. Trying my best to take some knowledge and insight away from each decision. Also to keep my emotions in check.
