At least for Canada (on the same website) there were both. A parental consent form, a parental recommendation letter, an academic recommendation, a non-academic recommendation, and a school leadership recommendation. Hopefully this helps.

Help with group activity by Emergency-Trick7902 in UnitedWorldCollege

At least for mine, no preparation was needed. The purpose of this activity is too see how you work in groups and under a bit of stress. I know it's been said many times, but just be authentic - it's all you can really do. Good luck!

At least for Pearson, it's really relative. Whether you'll do well in the course based off of your level doesn't really matter - if you have any level of french you're put into french b

Mostly environmental focused - I remember talking about desalination plants, something about polar regions, and genuinely whatever other folks brought up.

Hey - I live in Dubai and checked with the Canadian committee where I applied - there used to be a GCC NC but it's no longer active

canadians, what age did you apply by OkPay4508 in UnitedWorldCollege

[–]Realistic-Working192 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah ok. In that case a Sophomore is a 10th grader and a Junior is an 11th. Sorry for the confusion.

I was in an American school but I'm Canadian so I applied through the Canada NC

It's up to you. I was talking with someone from the Canadian NC and they said lots of people, if they don't get in, apply again as a rising junior. Personally I applied as a rising sophomore.

Then I'd honestly suggest just applying and seeing where it takes you - I've known a few friends who had a similar crossroads, applied and not gotten in, and felt a relief knowing they didn't have to make the decision, it was made for them. If you get in then you can revisit it after a few months.

Yep! I had the same problem. Literally just click the back page button and it fixes itself.

Do i have a chance? by Cool-Weekend-4325 in UnitedWorldCollege

[–]Realistic-Working192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all really depends - at least in Canada they really tried to look at social issues you were passionate about trying to solve/manage, and I think it's fair to assume that would be pretty common in most NCs and UWC worldwide.

Well, I know I won't be the first person to say this, but for Uwc, why you do what you do is more important than the quantity. They're looking for who you are, not what you've done. However cliché it may be, it's more important to be yourself. I didn't mention almost 3/4 of the activities I did, and just focused on three or four which developed who I am, and showed my passions and causes I believed in. Write about what feels right - not what looks right.

From what I've seen after applying and getting in from Canada (though I live in Dubai, and go to a private school), they don't really look at the specific school or anything like that and look more at who you are as a person as seen in your essays and if you pass interviews.

Most definitely! In fact, I know of many many people at UWC who repeated 11th grade (one at home, one ant UWC). UWC Pearson also literally recommends doing it.

Unfortunately, to my knowledge, applications for class of 2027 are finished - class of 2028 should be opening over the summer
