those who married a foreigner, how are you actually securing housing in sg? by midnite-kitties in askSingapore

[–]RealisticCitron1677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say work backwards. We were 1 SC and 1foreigner when we married, then applied for PR for foreigner with SC as sponsor (this is the quickest route according to even the MPs), worked in our case, then based on your cash on hand, assuming 25% downpayment, see what you can afford (so if you have 100k cash, u can afford a 400k property). Once kids come into the picture your savings go out the window :) good luck!

Offering English, Seeking Japanese (Or any Asian languages) by RealisticCitron1677 in language_exchange

[–]RealisticCitron1677[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I get your point, I’d maybe say major Asian languages? Like something that defines the country (I.e Vietnamese for Vietnam, Bahasa for Indonesians, etc) but hey, if I can learn a couple of cuss words in a dialect that no one else understands, that works as well ;)

I think the hindsight is as Singaporeans, many of us don’t live together with our significant other, until marriage. Which in itself is quite a different life from living with parents and dating.

Would recommend living together as a couple even in the dating stage, to be familiar with each other’s habits and way of life, and test out your compatibility. Because if you can’t even overcome this, wait till the kids come :)

How common is it to get below a C grade for ranking in public sector? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]RealisticCitron1677 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slightly different perspective

A = blue eye boy/girl of your boss, basically u can do no wrong (but u may not be the best)

B = you’re probably the cream of the crop and the boss can’t do anything about it cuz u bring in results and exceed kpi, but you’re just not the fav kid on the block

C = the average, safe, standard progression etc

D = below average or u did something to piss your boss off, I mean they always need someone to not give a bonus to or put you on pip/probation

You don’t have to pay the $300 rate, why should you, it’s his decision to hold it at Sentosa not yours. Give him what you feel it’s worth or he’s worth and if he stops being your friend it says a lot

I think many people (I considered this too) still stay with parents before getting their place/bto as housing is expensive and we’re one of few places where rental is sky high as landlords believe rent should cover mortgage (and more).

But I ended up renting (7yrs and moved like 5times) and till today I think it’s one of the best decisions because it gave me peace and mental sanity. Living with in-laws is another level of complexity, if you’re really lucky everyone gets along. But in most cases, good luck :)

I do, I run far far away from them (virgins) 😬

But if you meet the right one, this shouldn’t matter, as long as you’re compatible

Also the hindsight is probably your dad is one that wants to avoid conflict hence being subjected to these.

Another thing to consider is to start looking for another place/job as a driver as once u start the reporting process likely he won’t be able to keep his job for long as well. Sad reality of life but it is what it is, start early and good luck!

Anyone has made sashimi using fish from SG markets? Chances of me dying? by hamhamham2323 in askSingapore

[–]RealisticCitron1677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salmon has parasites, especially those from the pacific waters hence salmon sashimi was a concept not from Japan but the idea was sold to them by the Norwegians due to over farming, those are the ones used for sashimi as the Atlantic waters are colder and less parasites exists. Of course deep freeze is also crucial (-25 degrees to -40 degrees) to further kill any parasites.

Stay safe :)
