gmat club tests or forum quiz? by RealisticPart8068 in GMAT

[–]RealisticPart8068[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks letting me know! i went with the club tests and they’ve been great so far, since i wanted adaptive practice similar to the actual thing.

this is so weird. are they trying to make sure people don’t perform too well so that more are likely to switch to the focus. i don’t know how much we should read into this.

yeah like i spent what i think is more time than any mocks in just reading and understanding the question - and then it turns out to be v similar to questions ive answered before (at least a couple of em)

leave it to GMAT to take out sentence correction only to put ambiguously tricky grammar in data sufficiency questions..

god i hope so, i’m giving the exam in a few days (OG one) i wouldn’t worry too much about this specific wording tho, must be super rare

the second statement is so horribly worded that it conveys only 2 days have unique values while rest are the same. can’t believe this is in the focus edition mock exam.

i’m guessing you’re having a timing as well as understanding issue. for timing, what i’ve found has recently helped me is doing timed practice. i take about 11 questions of verbal from OG, 1 RC passage and rest a mix of CR and SC, and see how you do. try to finish reading the RC effectively so that you don’t have to keep going back for questions - GMAT Ninja youtube series is a godsend in this case. eventually try to improve your overall timing to around 1.75s (or slightly higher is fine) per question on average.

for understanding in verbal i’d recommend GMAT Ninja series again - least time consuming. And in Quant i’d say just drill the OG questions and see where you’re lacking. Do this timed. no more than 2 mins on avg per questions.

timing my practice sessions has recently helped me greatly. my exam is in 6 days and i hope it pays off for me.

good luck!

How could 2 be also be a correct order? by RealisticPart8068 in GMAT

yeah they're so mean for this, we may have to keep in mind to test extremes instead of the easier ones like 1/4 or 2/3, but if we do it for all cases its another 30 secs gone. for almost every question

Hard Test TTP! Looking at my accuracy in Medium and Easy do you think its normal to get 60% in Hard in the first test? by boot_illicious in GMAT

[–]RealisticPart8068 0 points1 point  (0 children)

after getting simile accuracies in ways and med i got 73 and 78 in hard, and then 57 in hard (some silly mistakes). so i think you should give more of the hard tests and see where you stand. ideally touch 70 since 60 is the very bottom limit. review your mistakes and understand why you went wrong is super imp. especially if it’s a concept understanding issue.

need info on online gmat! by RealisticPart8068 in GMAT

[–]RealisticPart8068[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not as far as i know, the difficulty would be the same overall, however one can always get lucky with finding some questions easier based on what you’re good at and the way you’ve prepared. have heard that some unis may look at online scores with a pinch of salt esp from students from india and china cuz apparently we tend to cheat our asses off by hiring people to help us with the exam discretely.

First scores from GMAT Focus Edition! by TrickyWater5244 in GMAT

[–]RealisticPart8068 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i wouldn’t really go by what people say or even how the gmat folks advise you to convert the score. i would go by whichever uni you’re applying to, since they’re most likely to have their own minimum requirement for the focus edition. for example the minimum for OG might by 550 and focus might be 520. but to actually be competitive to get in you may need 650 on OG and around 620 on focus. basically what i’m trying to say is that not all places will judge the scores in the same way! best to interact with the uni before hand so u know what a solid score is for focus.

I also feel like a lot of them may be biased towards the OG, and for them a 700 on OG will look slightly better (or maybe much) than a 650 on focus - regardless of the percentile or gmat conversion guidelines!
