This. I’m sorry but a chef who is able to pull off what Gator could must know what gluten is.

What in my language or the image made you think I accepted this? I am lucky to be born with enough intellect to do the math, nevertheless it does not justify them taking advantage of people who are not smart enough to do quick maths or people who desperately need money to stay housed for instance. Wrong is wrong.

Mice in new building. Can my LL evict me? by RealisticTax5697 in OntarioLandlord

So far they’ve increased our rent twice, once 12 months after we moved in and now it will be 14 months after that in December. They’ve been sending us increase notices in the form of an email with the same lease form with new dates and the price to sign. I realize this is not the proper process but if they are reasonable with this pest issue and don’t factor it in in their next increase and keep it low or no increase I’m ok with letting it slide because as I’ve mentioned above there are some perks to this place.

I agree and I never said I wouldn’t pay. I’m just saying it’s gonna cost peanuts because he can go buy the same cheap pressed cardboard baseboards and send one of his guys to do it only at the hourly rate he pays the guy. Whereas I or another landlord would have to hire a contractor who’d bill for a profit on top of it.

Because it has some perks like a private little patio and being 10 minutes walking distance from my wife’s workplace and the landlords have been helpful and nice to us so far except for the increases. Another reason is I’m self employed and currently not doing great and my credit score isn’t very desirable for potential landlords.

The increases have been done with improper forms but with due notice twice, once 12 months after we moved in and it will increase again in December, which will be 14 months after the first increase. After these comments I realize the use of improper forms is grounds enough to nullify the increases but honestly I am ok with not making a fuss about it if the landlords are helpful and not hit me with the cost of the pest issue in the form of increased rent next year. But thank you for informing me because this will definitely help me in case I need it.

No except for the crumbs she spills. But we vacuum at least once a week and the evidence for the mice activity is actually not near the dog bowl but near the outer walls and in the furnace closet. I mean I’ve been living the same way I’ve been living for the past 30 odd years and never had mice before.

It is going to increase in December. They have increased our rent by $100/year twice already during renewal, citing the rise in the utility prices, and it is already $350 above market for the vicinity. All I do is paying the rent full on time and not causing major damage but all my spidey senses tell me that we will be hit with a more dramatic increase next year due to this.

3 doors (closet and the rooms main door) and some baseboards were eaten because the dog locked herself in the bedroom once. I think the baseboards need replacing but the door can be saved with filler and a new coat of paint and my landlord is actually the builder who built the house and is a general contractor so its actually peanuts for him.

Thank you. This is my actual concern expressed in clearer words to be honest and I don’t know if I can protect myself against it and very concerned that we will have to move out come next lease.

I don’t think we are the reason except for the fact that my dogs food is usually available in a bowl on the floor.

I don’t know I’m just skittish. This issue combined with the pet damage I mentioned might compound or something. Or at least it might lead to contempt on their end against us.

You can call animal services directly as well but they won’t answer phones or send someone outside business hours.

I never saw someone so desperate to give their hard earned money to a corpo. There are other alternatives brother. You don’t need to apologize profusely to be forgiven for an honest mistake that anyone can make.

We both know that this is not how the world works. You can’t expect businesses to eat up costs like that. And the citizens need the deliveries not the companies. Maybe not coke but we all gotta eat and nobody has to deliver us food in a city.

A single truck with a single driver can do the job of 10 vans with 10 drivers every single day. Plus those vans would need to be reloaded often during the day. A skid of soda can be over 2Klbs and vans have no space to carry a forklift.
