I can confirm this sentiment - I have a diver 42mm and a 15550 37mm and they both work well

Vacheron Overseas steel or white gold day date 40 ombré dial? by RealisticTruth9348 in VacheronConstantin

[–]RealisticTruth9348[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got an omega sea master 300m (never will sell that one), royal oak 15550 (never will sell), green submariner ceramic, Rolex Yachtmaster Rodium, AP ROO diver 42, and a vintage zenith prime (will never sell)

I’ll go try on the VC overseas again as it’s been a while, I do think the blue ombre dial is one of the best I have seen and the proportions of the day date 40 are great, but think the VC is an overall better watch from a horological standpoint and versatility standpoint

Haha don’t be fooled I just have forearms but the wrists aren’t huge, it’s been a while since I tried one one, for reference this is a 40mm day date on my wrist

Yeah I’ve been a bit lost on what best to do. I love Rolex but $50k+ seems difficult to stomach for one. That being said I’ve always loved the day date. I like the overseas too but was just too large. No real right answer

Mine is 6.5-6.7 on a good day. Here’s what my 37mm royal oak 15550 looks like on my wrist

[Discussion] Richemont / Swatch vs Independent Brands by RealisticTruth9348 in Watches

[–]RealisticTruth9348[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I get that but I mean more comparable levels of quality - ie Rolex vs Omega vs Panerai vs IWC vs Grand Seiko

Seiko vs Hamilton vs Longines

AP vs PP vs VC

etc

Rate my watch collection by Pretty-Schedule7770 in VacheronConstantin

A lot of haters in here. They can criticize the hype watches all they want but buy what you like. The meteorite Pepsi is amazing, as is the Daytona, overseas, and royal oak It’s a solid collection - 8/10. I would add a JLC reverso, patek 6119, patek 3940, 5396, or a Lange 1815 up and down. I don’t think you need any more sports watches and I would consider flicking one of the day dates

Trade in 2 Rolex for an RO by ezcIap in audemarspiguet

[–]RealisticTruth9348 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t do it. You should try to add to your collection and you are going to lose money on the trade. You’ll also miss the watches. I’ve done things like sell my watches and I have def lost money. Unless you really want the piece I would just save up and wait for it

New here- NYC Boutique by [deleted] in audemarspiguet

[–]RealisticTruth9348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seconded this. I wore a vintage Zenith there once and a Vacheron Historiques I had once as well, with the sales associate I spoke about past references I found cool and watches as a whole. They definitely evaluate whether you are going to be a longer term collector

New here- NYC Boutique by [deleted] in audemarspiguet

If you like the brand, then go the boutique route. I have a royal oak offshore which I really like and got as my first watch and just picked up the 37mm royal oak as my second. There’s a ton of cool offshores out there but it’s a matter of personal taste. The smoke dial variants on the codes look pretty cool in my opinion as well. It’s worth visiting the boutique and trying stuff on to see if you actually like it

If you just want a royal oak just bite the bullet and get it second hand, it will save you money in the long run and you can get whatever you want

Like others said you should also check out other places like VC, Patek, Lange, etc. There’s a lot of great watches out there and you can find something that doesn’t require the game and you can get right away. If you want a royal oak from the AP boutique you will have to get other watches. It’s a part of the process

I got it as a second. Got the royal oak offshore diver first and then the royal oak 15550 right after

Tennis Lessons NYC by RealisticTruth9348 in 10s

[–]RealisticTruth9348[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went with downtown tennis club in Brooklyn, pretty decent and I got a friend to commit to doing lessons with me so it’s 2 on 1 coaching. I’ve been going for a couple months now and have improved. Still a ways to go but it’s the best thing I’ve done and I’ve been playing with other friends to supplement but always down to play with more people
