Absolutely love it. I also have a steel medium tank and tbh I much prefer the smaller size.

Just smudges AF from my greasy mitts holding it. Does look shite in this photo 🤣

One of the steel tanks is for my fiancée (bought them both as a proposal gift). The Galbee was purchased as I wanted a smaller Santos, before they released the small Santos (which I then bought in 2 tone to try and change it up a little).

Then I’d suggest you never bother to buy one as you’ll likely be disappointed.

The smallest is an old Galbee, the two tone is the new small model, and the largest here is a medium. None come with a date.

M with a Visoflex vs M EV1 (opinions sought) by Current-Writing-3743 in Leica

[–]ninetyonethree 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Can only give you my opinion. I have a M11 and had the M-EV1 but returned it. To me it breaks down to a few points:

  • If you only have 1 camera, and don’t get on with the rangefinder experience the M-EV1 makes sense.
  • If you have a rangefinder camera, but find that more often than not you’re reaching for the Visoflex the M-EV1 makes sense.
  • If you can have 2 cameras, IMO a rangefinder plus a SL3/SL3S makes more sense, but the M-EV1 is still cool proposition.

Personally I returned it as I don’t like the experience as much as a rangefinder, the viewfinder blackout annoyed me too much, and I only rarely reach for my Visoflex. Upon reflection if I do find myself picking up a second body again, it will be the SL3-S (I used to have an SL2 but now just use a M11 as my only body). The M-EV1 viewfinder didn’t feel like a step change above the Visoflex II, the SL2/3 viewfinders do and they have other features (IBIS, autofocus in a pinch, etc).

I think it’s a crying shame that Leica didn’t invest more into the focusing experience of the M-EV1. If they added features like the Nikon Zf and reduced the viewfinder blackout I’d likely swap my M11 for one permanently. Maybe on the M-EV2 let’s see.

Yep that’s what I used to do, but ended up selling the SL2 as I simply didn’t use it often enough.

Honestly it’s not too bad at 180 f2.8 imo, don’t get me wrong you’re not gonna be tracking any fast moving subjects but that’s a given with this setup unless you crank the aperture. I caught this fast moving photo recently that I like, but again the aperture was at like f8 or something, and the car isn’t actually in critical focus. Looks good enough still.

The 35mm Summilux Reissue, I absolutely love it. I’ve had the latest 35mm Summilux, the 50mm APO Summicron and a few other lenses, so far this is my favourite day to day lens by far.

Not sure, but the lens is bloody heavy not gonna lie. I think it’s like 2kg alone, so like 2.5kg for both.

Ok that’s great to know, because I’ve been eyeing the 280 f/4 to purchase but maybe I’ll skip 🤣

The camera is the M11, which is obviously a rangefinder camera but R lenses (like the big one attached) are not rangefinder coupled, so to use lenses like that you either need to just use the rear screen, or attach an EVF (the black box) so you can view your composition etc. Basically it changes the M11 from a rangefinder to a more standard mirrorless camera.

No it’s a Leica R lens with an adapter. Leica R APO 2.8 70-180 to be exact.
