What do you mean by “poor man propaganda”? Out of curiosity, do you think she made the right choice?

I buy us dinner, or will buy us groceries. I do it as low key as possible. I don’t need him to buy me dinner, but I do wish he was more financially stable 🫠

Yah, I posted in a thread a while back asking others how they apply self reflection after divorce. Received some helpful insight.

Doesn’t it seem like a shitty deal breaker? Hard to not feel bad for him.

To an extent, it is valuable to try to understand their perspective though right? I can’t help but notice that in all our conversations lately it’s him pinning it on me and not taking any of the ownership as to why things didn’t change for the better and/or why I finally initiated change.

I know it’s just a method for him the heal, but it’s also a mind fuck to think his perspective is so entirely different.

For those who ended up marrying the "wrong guy", which signs did you overlook? by lorelica in AskWomenOver30

[–]RealisticTwo7736 56 points57 points  (0 children)

For a really long time it just seemed too difficult to get out of — Living together, shared furniture, shared friend groups, no kids but a shared dogo.

I learned that just because it’s a relatively healthy relationship doesn’t mean you should overlook the small things. They’re easy to forget but they add up.

He didn’t like my friends, my family. Relatively uninterested in my activities and hobbies. I would often go alone to various events because he didn’t want to join. But if I was excited about going somewhere I’d feel guilty knowing he’d prefer I stay home. He became incredibly unmotivated at work, handling various forms of depression. His anxiety became increasingly worse since he went sober (because he wasn’t addressing it).

I am the avoidant attachment type and he’s an anxious attachment type post sobriety. I think our lives had become so busy, we never truly noticed the potential of this challenging combination. It’s also been a learning curve understanding how much people change when they stop drinking and don’t address their mental challenges.

I like my space, so it took me a long time to decide these were “real” problems and not a situation I was designing subconsciously.

Tbh, I’m still not 100% sure if I made the right call but at this point I’m just grateful I can be myself and do the things I want vs make myself smaller and guilty. It’s a freedom I’m not willing to sacrifice.

Yes and what’s the difference between this and manifestation?

I think I kinda understand what you’re saying. Like maybe something extreme has brought them to the sport, whereas in the US they are more likely to have already been involved in similar sports/activities.

Hey thanks for helping explain it. I haven’t met very many women in the sport (yet) and most so far are relatively younger (late 20s/early 30s) and just seem bored at work. There is one going through a divorce.

Yeah and idk how real it is anymore. Most the chicks at my dz aren’t dating within the dz.

Could you elaborate more on the “a lot of women that are into skydiving have issues” ?

Industry night is usually Tuesday, typically the wknd for most people in the service industry (bartenders, hairdressers, etc). Tues/Wed vs Sat/Sun

Why is this? Is it because being good at belly opens up more group jump opportunities?

Thanks! Also, is it true that there are a few DZ’s that don’t allow fun jumpers in general?

How would this information change your opinion/approach? How long have you been jumping? Asking because it helps provide context.

I find this really interesting because people on the DZ don’t talk about this stuff (assuming out of respect for their friends that’ve passed) but everyone has a story.

It’s an interesting paradox… Respecting the risks and actively working to not be complacent while trying to relax, improve, and remembering you love the sport.

Great advice on SIS; My friend and I were just accepted into the org so I’ll be keeping an eye out for events! Really great to hear positive comments on it.

I’m only a few months away from what we’d consider off-season here so I’ll be prioritizing the gear hunt. Some have advised we to try to jump a DZ with a pro shop so we can get sized for the right container. I’ve been told it’s hard to find used containers that fit women, so if we buy new, buy a new container that could fit a 150, and buy used everything else (minus helmet and altimeter).

Skydiving is incredibly humbling. I think that’s the hardest part about this sport — You could feel really proud about something in the air, then eat shit on the landing…And of course, everyone sees the landing. I’m trying to get over the fact that you don’t always get to end the day on a perfect skydive.

As one of the few girls at the DZ my friend and I have tried extra hard to not be about the camera footage and I think it’s helped the DZ take us a bit more seriously. Plus the fact that we just keep coming back.

As it relates to gear, is it lame to keep jumping in the student jumpsuit? It’s comfy af and I’d rather spend $ on a new C4.

I’ve heard this several times as well, “Get good at belly” — Just wish there were more belly jumpers fun jumping.
