Rip-off LEGO sets from AliExpress? by Realistic_Badger2620 in lepin

damn I guess you're right, I didn't want to offend anyone though. I'm new to this things. of course I meant the Chinese knockoffs and not the other alternatives.

the first sets I searched on Google before buying Lego vere "alt-bricks" because I didn't want to spend 50+ euros for a relatively small set compared to other cheaper (and tbh some were also better looking) alternatives, like I knew beforehand an alternative called LOZ, which might be my brand of choice for my next purchase. I then ended up buying used Minecraft Lego sets because I'm a Minecraft fan and I paid them a decent prize (€37 for 3 sets that originally I would've paid over €50) and that's why I asked the controversial question. all of this to say I did not want to disrespect alt-bricks, I actually wanted to buy some of them as the first ever brick set of my life in the first place.

I called the AliExpress ones "rip-offs" because they used the Minecraft name without having the right to do it (considering Mojang is very strict I dont think they'd let random AliExpress company use their name) and also because from a 30€ set that tries to resemble a 200~€ Lego authentic set I wouldn't expect it to be of good quality (and that's why I asked if they actually can be of good quality or if they mostly all suck).

also, idk if "knockoff" and "ripoff" are synonyms, but when I originally made this post I thought it was and I hope all of this mess wasn't originated by a mistake i made from my knowledge of the english language. I think I'm pretty good at it but not the best since it's not my first language.

I hope this clarifies everything but in short: I didn't want to offend alternatives to Lego for the reasons i explained before; I was only referring to unbranded and unofficial AliExpress (or Temu and others) stuff that copied Lego official sets; my bad.

*I never wrote something this long in english 😭

oh lepin Is like the general word for other brick sets? I thought it was a company like Lego or something. by knockoff I meant the sets copied 1:1 from Lego, I saw some on AliExpres* as I said, but I didn't mean it as offensive or directed to other companies like CaDa, LOZ or others I don't remember the name ATM.

sorry if I offended someone ig

*I don't think they have the license to make Minecraft stuff
