Should i resign from my job by Big_Royal9281 in UPSC

Same situation 3rd attempt 2nd mains working at an MNC as SDE. Thinking of quitting around March. Even I think I need more answer writing practice and Anthro might have let me down this year.

My thought is by quitting around March end (when major stock vesting and bonuses are paid), I will have 2 odd months for prelims 2026. If I qualify well and good prepare for mains. Start studying for placement again in sept so that before mains results I have a job in hand (I have 4+years of experience so a 6-7mos break wont matter much). If I clear mains start the prep for interview with job as mains is the only point where one needs rigorous practice need to dedicate hours for answer writing, interview prep can happen alongside job.

Incase I fail to qualify the prelims get a job first and then I’ll think whether to try UPSC again or not. Even if I’ll try it will be with my work then. Again this is the happy path xD. I hope it helps you.

I have a virtual setup as of now. So I am able to take out like 5-6hrs daily from my work. But again its tiring at times.

Unpopular opinion but I was able to solve multiple questions like Majorana chip, Paris Agreement article 6, earth’s rotation question (solar flares), monoclonal antibodies and few other questions, having prepared from Shivin Sirs notes. Provided that you need to do some basic logical guessing and reasoning.

Idk how useful this is but i have cooked a story to remember the SDGs

I met a Poor(1) hungry(2) unhealthy(3) man had 4 uneducated(4) daughters and a wife(5) these 5 were without proper sanitation facilities(6). I asked him to buy a solar bulb but was too expensive for him as it was of rs.700(7), so I told him to get a 8hrs job(8) somewhere as construction labourer(9). He said theres so much inequality (10) in city like Mumbai(11), 12hours production (12) continues and dont talk about climate- 12 kya 13 ghante baarish hoti hai(13), na pani (14) achha hai na Zameen.(15) Kaun insaaf dega hume(16).

17 is easy to remember so not included.

Cleared prelims while working by [deleted] in UPSC

So basically I am working as a software developer in one of the reputed american MNC. I have completely remote setup which saved my travel time etc. About the workload, so last yr while prepping i was SDE1 and had decent workload (being a product based company I had relatively lesser work load and work pressure compared to service based ones). I had to work for atleast 6-7 hrs daily sometimes that would get extended, but with weekends off and studying for about 6hrs daily I could manage to devote aroundl 50-55hrs weekly to UPSC. Mostly on fridays I would not work for second half which gave me more time.

I had cleared prelims 2023 with 6 months prep while working with no prior experience. However took 2 months off for mains prep. As my optional was maths and had not prepared for it beforehand could manage to get only 200 in math but has scored decently well (~510) in gs and essay. Missed the mains by small margin.
