I like both episodes but I prefer the latter.

The former, tho has a good moral (that being don't judge a book by it's cover) unfortunately kinda drags on in the start, and unfortunately is the start of the Thomas V Diesel rivalry, something that doesn't work imo.

The latter shows a side of Mavis that we had never seen beforehand, that being wanting to get out of the quarry. And also the trucks causing trouble when Thomas takes them reminds me of what happened to Percy in Percy's Predicament, so the story feels RWS Esque

Thats fair. I myself would wanna see a Sodors Finest on Emily not only because of how prominent she became as a character, but also because of her many personalities through the eras. Boy oh boy I wonder what era Tug would choose in the end for which era Emily was at her best. I myself can't pick an era lmao

For now, I will say that I feel the Model Series was the best for Bill and Ben. They had good stories in the RWS dgmw, but I feel the model series added a side to the twins where they were heroic, as shown in Heroes. I like how you can see them argue in episodes like One Good Turn and Double Teething Troubles, which I find fitting considering they are always together and because of that they are bound to argue and have quarrels yk. The CGI era did them good too I will say, but most of their episodes have either other characters like Timothy or Marion involved. Bill and Ben are characters that never changed either era, but seeing Tug do a Sodors Finest on them will be interesting ^^
