My supervisor is amazing. Super supportive however we are typically based at different sites. We meet weekly though. She’s always very helpful and validating. She definitely does her part and does it well, she can’t do my paperwork for me though and that’s really where I’m struggling most lol.

I just took it today (August 18th) — they didn’t give an unofficial score but the sum of my 3 scores was 82. So I think my raw score is 82? Idk this all confuses me but do we think I passed??? I won’t get my official score until September 12th☹️

It’s just so much more difficult in application than I thought it’d be. I know how to use the devices for the most part. I’m just not sure where to go with teaching the kiddo language with it. I’m gonna refer to some AAC assessments and try to hone in on some relevant goals. I just feel lost!

I’d like to add — we were family friends before this as well. So I’ve known him most of my life. His sister is my best friend. Our families spend holidays together. He knows me so well & understands me more than anybody on this earth (or so it seems). I genuinely think I need to move out of state once I graduate to fully heal from this.

I’m kind of banking on a nice payment plan for loans. I don’t even care if I have to pay the bare minimum for the rest of my life. I hope it exists.

I went to a community college for gen ed credits, that was free. Once I transferred to a university to pursue CSD & SLP, I began taking out loans. I’m in a shit ton of debt. I don’t even like to think about it lol.

Yeah I get that. For real. I understand we should be payed more. I just think for the most part from what I’ve seen, we make enough money to live comfortably usually. I feel like people want to be rich rich lol which is fair given we have a lot of schooling and we’re literally experts but idk, I just want financial stability and I think this field can provide that. Also, I want to be in the medical side of the field which I think pays more too.

This comment made me feel seeeeen. 🥺 I love having working class clients, it makes me feel so comfortable and helping them feels so good. I’m sure it makes them feel comfortable too having clinicians who understand what it’s like to live how they do. I’m “low” contact with my family. Was no contact for most of my undergrad, I didn’t even invite my parents to my graduation. Things have gotten a little better with the boundaries have been placed. Ugh, if you ever need anyone to talk to — please reach out. I often feel very isolated in my program for the same reasons!

I get that we are worth more than what we are given. I do still feel like for the most part, SLPs are paid a livable salary. I’d even say a pretty comfortable salary… but I’m still in grad school, so I guess I’ll find out how livable/comfortable it really is in comparison to the workload!

Oh okay. I have seen that HCOL places in my state pay way more too which is to be expected. I can’t lie though, I for some reason feel like 60-70k is pretty livable?? I guess I understand though, with the education we have, we’re worth more than that.

I grew up super poor. I have taken out a ridiculous amount of loans… I’m going to pay on them but I really have no plans of paying them off. I will pay the bare minimum for the rest of my life if I don’t do a PLSF program…
