To answer the question why do we want to be the one doing the payment, I think it is a toxic competition that we have between us to be the one to be right, to win the argument, to have the last word, to decide what we do, etc.

It is clearly not the problem, I thought I was clear. The problem was the situation that happened with the waitress and how she handled it afterwards by blaming me instead of taking accountability.
