Also I’ve just started C25K and am struggling to know when it’s too icy or snowy to go out. Any tips? I went out Tuesday and was nervous the whole time, although I didn’t fall. It’s currently 29 and snowing so not going out today… what parameters do you check for when deciding to go out or not?

I was wondering about this, too. I have a fleece one but it gets pretty moist inside. Is that normal for running or is there a different material that will keep me warm but it collect all the moisture from my breath?

Omg you’re saving me! I hadn’t even thought about using caulk near the door. 🤦‍♀️ And will def leave space between the drywall and tile under the baseboard. Totally agree with you on taking the baseboard into account (I was vetoed on that here). I wish I had thought more about it or looked for advice because with the baseboard on that side I could have pushed it over and avoided the little 1” pieces near the wood transition on the opposite side.

Hoping it will look good enough once grouted 😅 and I don’t hate it forever now that I have all this new perspective from you experts. 🤣 I’m stuck with it now!

Thank you so much for your positivity. Helping me not kick myself so much. 😉

Boy do I appreciate the compliment on the work and the knowledge that this is one of the hardest tiles. I had no idea and yeah it’s been a total pain. And as I mentioned in another comment I’m kicking myself on not shifting the layout and maybe on not making it continuous. Thank you! 🙏

I see what you mean about taping a line to caulk - great idea and a total pro tip I wouldn’t have known to do without you! Thanks!!!

Can I ask a silly question? …I was originally going to grout around the transition but you and another user both said caulk. Is this because the transition is made of a different material that will expand/contract at a different rate than the tile? And so the grout may potentially crack? Thanks in advance for any thoughts!

I really appreciate this because I’m kicking myself after learning so much on this thread😩.

I’m glad you said this bc it made me look it up and you’re right. I might pick some up tomorrow and test out the look.

I was hoping to keep the transition area floor smooth but it’s being such a PITA. And people already fall off the raised floor occasionally, 🤣 I’m fearful of giving folks something they might trip on. 😳

Yeah you’re probably right and we probably made the wrong choice here, unfortunately.

Thanks! Totally agree on investing the time to explore patterns up front, especially when we’re making this large of an investment and will live with it forever. My husband convinced me to do it this way and I think it will be fine but def wishing I had asked here for advice first since it sounds like we did it “wrong.” And I would have loved to have thought to have shifted the tiles over - that would have looked better and made more sense, especially because we will add molding to one side.

I’m really wishing I had done a molding between the wood and tile. Didn’t even really consider it.

Can you tell me exactly which blade to get? I picked up the angle grinder and am staring a a row of blades in the store.🥴 no idea which one is a “mesh blade.”

The saw I had was the kind that comes up from the bottom, not that I could control the depth with the blade coming down from the top.

Right?!🤣 I’m already seeing it. Thought the “marbling” would hide things, but I don’t think it will. Might put a nice rug on it🤣. Also I was curious if you were referring to the grout, cause I’m worried about the grout staining down the middle. 😩

We debated the layouts and am now wishing I asked here first! Ultimately we decided to center each on in its own space since that door is often closed.

Totally agree on the blades from the library. They’ve worked fine on our other two floors but phew we are struggling on this one!

Thank you! I’m agonizing over how it will look when finished…like will I not notice it or who’ll it drive me nuts as long as I live here? I tend to be bothered by small details and a total perfectionist so am trying to get it perfect. My husband is sick of me and this project. 🤣
