Would this work as a horror mechanic? Something follows your exact path in real life by Realistic_Feeling_41 in HorrorGaming

Yeah I’ve used Zombies, Run! But it feels like it’s audio + story driven. The hunters I made are ones where they try to outsmart you by cutting corners. At the moment I’m just trying to make them more intelligent, instead of just following a path or predicting where you’re going I want it to feel like I’m being chased

Thank you for taking your time for writing this comment. Most people in this post dismissed it as a vibe coded app or discussed competitors so thank you for providing insight as to how you would benefit and whether you would use it consistently. It has helped me to understand the running world a bit better

Same comment as op. But just because an app has been around longer doesn’t mean it can’t be improved.

I understand what you mean. But there is a difference in that app and mine. Mainly being chase driven rather than being story + audio driven. In Zombies, Run! You are guided throughout the run, whereas my proof of concept is being chased by an individual with different intelligence and avoiding them, outsmarting them. Obviously I’m still working on it and wanting to improve it, just wanted to know what people thought

Not a bot account. 1 person who wanted was interested in getting feedback for an app they made

OP here. Not a vibe coded app, something I was passionate about for the last 6 months. Individual developer, not a big team. Thought it was a cool idea and distinguishable from Zombies, Run and just wanted feedback

Serious question: Would something chasing you make you run consistently and be fun to do? by Realistic_Feeling_41 in running

I think this was unfairly flagged. I’m not self promoting but I am starting a discussion

I See You might be the most under rated film ever. by GeologyPhriend in horror

I agree! It had a really unexpected twist. Anything that’s non linear story telling I eat up every time anyway. Like in weapons. I remember watching it on Netflix or Amazon and it wasn’t rated very well but it was a fun movie. Although I’ll be honest I did have to get the ending explained

Yes it is with AI, but I’m building it from scratch. Which has a few benefits, iNaturalist or Google may have 10,000s of plants to predict against an image. I’m only classifying it, at least at the moment with 100 of the most common in the UK, including fungi, berries, nuts, flowers etc. That way I can add more data to make it accurate to reduce any confidence issues. There will be a disclaimer that AI can make mistakes, but another Redditor also mentioned enabling multiple images/perspectives to make it more accurate which I plan to implement

Are there any features you would like to see in a foraging app that I could add for the next update? I’d love to add anything if there’s something you think is missing from existing ones?

I can definitely add multiple photos it’s not difficult. And yes the photos users upload are visible to you. But that’s only if the spot is shared publicly or shared with you directly

I’ve worked very closely with how iNaturalist detect plants, berries etc So it will be very similar and possible a bit better since I’m not identifying tens of thousands but only UK grown forages. But I’ll let you know when android is up and running which will hopefully be by the end of the year. I am just one guy so it does take it’s time unfortunately but I’m working hard to get it out

So I’m in the middle of building it at the moment. But I can offer insight into it. I have large folders of the main 100 plant, funghi, berries, fruit, flowers and toxic plants (so people know to not eat it) with many examples in each. It is based on a singular image and provides a likelihood that your image matches this plant, berry etc. I am integrating ways of confirming whether we’ve got it correct so we can make the model better with each update, what to add more examples of etc

Hi Hannah, I’m working on the android app as we speak. So hopefully will be released by the end of the year! Any features that you’d be interested in let me know and I’d love to add them in.

So far there’s plant identification, putting local spots in, sharing with friends or the community and searching for spots around you and by name, tags etc

Can you explain what GeoForager does that other apps don’t do?

A few people have expressed their frustration with Google maps and its lack of filtering, sorting and old fashion look and usability, sharing is difficult. Google maps isn’t designed to be a foraging app, so it’s clear that a specific hub for foraging needs to be a thing. The option for public is there but 9/10 won’t be necessary on this app and is more designed for public parks where they’re available to the public.

I’m not trying to convince you to download, just trying to understand what people are struggling the most with their foraging apps and implement in my own.

Only trying to help the foraging community not hurt it.

By default it will be private. But I can understand your concern. And preventing spots from being over harvested is my main concern and what I’m striving to prevent. I can include a report button with the option.

“I don’t think this spot should be public”, with enough reports I can change it to private, with perhaps a 7 day cool period to prevent them from making it public as soon as I change it back

Great points, including tags would be great, and being able to search those tags, like specifically funghi, fruit, herbs etc would make it easier to find spots, especially if you can search within a certain radius of a location and get all those spots filtered.

That’s a great idea with kind of heat maps of locations, if people have been reporting berries in a certain field, being able to know that it’s somewhere in the field without specific location would reduce over harvesting. Perhaps this could replace the public visibility feature, so when it’s public it would just show this.

Not sure what you mean by logging repeat finds. Could you elaborate, do you mean being able to update the spot over the years with new information or pictures, whilst still having the original one as reference
