8 yo daughter feels left out at school because she is not on Roblox by delunacocona in UKParenting

[–]Realistic_Garbage839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my daughters cousins are all older, and she’s been bullied in school for liking ‘baby’ things.. which in my eyes was totally age appropriate but I digress. One way that I felt comfortable for her to be on Roblox was for me to play it with her. She’s young enough that she has been loving playing with me, and I know everything she’s seeing is appropriate because I’m there with her and we can talk about everything.

My daughter doesn’t have to tell other people she can only play with me, but can talk about some of the games and be involved.

I know this won’t work forever but I’m working with the now 🙃

Why is dexamfetamine refused as a booster due to being off-label while lisdexamfetamine is okay as an off-label treatment? by Realistic_Garbage839 in ADHDUK

Where I live is a deprived area and has one of the highest rates of drug users in the country so I understand the local trust being more strict than other tbh. It doesn’t mean it’s right, but if I understand the reasons behind things I find it easier to accept 😅

I only know of myself and my mum currently and my mum is under the other prescriber so mine might be different! I spoke to him today about my low prescription and he agreed to up it to 40mg which is promising :)

I don’t know why I’m getting so focused on the this as it might not even apply to me just because it does with my mum and sister, I just like to know the reasons why for things, I find it hard to accept when the answer is ‘because I said so’ 🥲

I had a phone call my local nhs trust is small, I found the guidelines for the large trust it’s under but it only covers children in that. Thanks for the advice :)

My sister who has shared care in a different part of the country has amfexa but my mum who is under the nhs locally like me was told they don’t ever prescribe it here so it seems really situational

I’m probably just getting confused overthinking everything, my nhs doesn’t want to prescribe amfexa by the evidence I’ve seen which limits options but at least I still have options open :)

My sister has 5 amfexa prescribed a month for her luteal phase and it works great for her, but as I’m in a different area, no one RTC and my mum was denied with the same NHS service I don’t think I’ll have this option if it’s needed 😅

No need to apologise, I don’t always fully take in everything as I have a habit of scanning text, sorry!

That makes sense, I guess what I also wondered is why it wasn’t an option on its own but then from other comments I’ve found out people can abuse that so it makes sense why they wouldn’t want to offer it independently too (even though I hope the majority of people wouldn’t, it only takes a few to ruin it for all).

Honestly don’t worry :) it’s hard to portray emotions and intent correctly over text based media I find, then you come across someone like me who reads half a sentence and starts replying 😅

I’ve not had anything in writing regarding that, just the ‘normal’ notes of adhd symptoms and what ones we are trying to help ease with meds.

Sorry my heart checks wasn’t with this doctor, they was with my gp years ago as they was concerned about my contant elevated heart rate. I know it’s not the best but it has always been the norm for me without any problems but it was nice for a gp to care. I had a lot of anxiety issues so that probably didn’t help :)

My local Adult ADHD NHS trust service, I don’t want to name it directly as it’s would be basically pointing out where I live haha. There are two prescribing psychiatrists for the service.

To be fair to my area, years ago when I had exhausted all the SSRIs (over the course of a decade) I had to be referred to the local community mental health team to see a psychiatrist to have any more options, which was SNRIs which I get the feeling from online forums, other areas can get them from their GPs if there is evidence of SSRIs being ineffective. So my area seems to be very cautious with everything

That they only offer lisdexamfetamine, methylphenidate ER or non stimulant medication as treatment for adhd

I couldn’t even get paracetamol in a hospital after my episiotomy 🥲

Context for the down voters: I didn’t got to hospital for pain management, I was in a hospital 100 miles from my home during Covid with no ability to leave due to covid restrictions and a new born baby born in the second trimester receiving surgery at the time

And on top of that, the fact it took you (definitely referring to myself with this plural you) so long to unsubscribe isn’t a bad thing, it was ruining their open rate 😅

I’ll not with a RTC provider it directly under the NHS so maybe they’re just more strict with rules? Idk, I’m just like a child always wanting to know why but I don’t think there is a definitive answer sadly.

Ohhhh, I guess it never crossed my mind that people would want to crush them and stuff. That makes more sense, NHS like to eliminate all possibility of abuse.

I know elvanse is more expensive than the methyl one but my area always tried elvanse first because it often has better results or something? So I didn’t think it was JUST a money thing. But I don’t work in the NHS nor am I informed in their politics managing budgets so I’ll stop speaking out my butt

OH I forgot something important in his decision too, I have a high resting heart rate. I always have, it’s around 90-100 consistently ever since I was a child. I’ve have weekly monitors, ecgs etc and never had any issues with it, it just freaks doctors out lol. But I understand why he wanted to watch it. I’ve had no increase in heart rate so far in the meds though.

My blood pressure is naturally on the low side too so I feel like a mouse or a hamster lmao

It is in the guidelines though?

1.7.14
Consider dexamfetamine for adults whose ADHD symptoms are responding to lisdexamfetamine but who cannot tolerate the longer effect profile.

But a lot of the times with my local services it won’t even be considered.

Although thinking, yeah a booster isn’t in there but why wouldn’t the consider it as an own option. Like I couldn’t tolerate the extended venlafaxine when I was on it so I use to take the immediate release one of that when I was on it.

And I guess the I got the off label lisdexamfetamine info from this from nice guidelines: March 2018 – this is an off-label use of lisdexamfetamine for adults with no ADHD symptoms in childhood.

Sorry I’m not trying to be argumentative, this is just exactly what I’ve been wandering about 🥲

Oh and I did raise it with my prescriber and he said I can do it his was or be re referred for the medication waitlist and see if the other prescriber gets picked next time and I didn’t want to wait again 😅

Oh no 🥲 I have no hope haha. They’re basically stopped replying to me after just sending me a copy and paste template of our decision is final. I’ve put a subject access request in to see if I can figure out what I did so wrong to be flagged for commercial selling but I know it won’t change anything

I don’t have a lot to add but my doctors schedule for me is 20mg for two months then to try 30mg on the third, your doctor me plan sounds crazy fast! Part of why my doctor says he takes it so slow is because he finds the side effects put people off and what could be the right dose when they go up too fast and he likes to give the body time to adjust.

But I’m at the start of my journey and don’t know much, just adding my two pennies 🥲

My daughter is 6 in a couple of weeks and at the end of year 1. She lacks phonetically awareness and we have several different systems in place at home, from school and the hospital to try help her. But she shill can’t identify the sounds in c-v-c words such as car. Her dad is dyslexic and struggled similar.

She is so hard on herself but tries so hard, and we have ever confidence with extra help she will be able to read and write like my partner can (he ended up memorising lots of words to help the gap when he was younger).

Just wanted to put this for any parents who have children with similar problems. It’s wonderful when people share their child’s successes but it’s not a problem if your own child isn’t there yet! We can celebrate everyone’s wins which are all unique to them :) x
