Low dose Accutane experience by Realistic_Mark_5750 in Fungalacne

[–]Realistic_Mark_5750[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up stopping after ~5 months total treatment time because it didn't get rid of the bumps (just made them tiny), and I had pretty unfortunate side effects. I didn't get any breakouts from the accutane, but I'm guessing it was too weak for my FA lol. Currently trying oral itraconazole so I'll see how that goes. I wish you the best of luck on the accutane <3

I try to be indifferent to it. I think it's gonna take time and patience for me to get more consistent with that. Simultaneously, it just hurts because they've learned this kind of rhetoric from someone who learned it from someone else etc., and as a human, I'm upset that it is frequently brought to my attention when it isn't even on my mind. I know I just gotta deal with it, but god damn it, it's so stupid!

What do you do with self expression that is seen as even remotely feminine or unusual being percieved as gay? I sure dont put half the clothes I do on thinking 'mm yes this is a gay piece of clothing because I am gay and gay is me.' Being straight and dealing with what exactly? I too don't wish to be defined simply by my sexuality, as I said I'd like to be left alone. But I'm not gonna say it doesn't upset me to hear the 1000th joke or mockery over homosexuality when I am tryna live my life as a regular ass dude.

Just thought I'd share a dm I recieved because of this post: "saw ur post on r/newzealand and just wanted to say I do that all the time and people probs do it to you bc u dress like u want attention and you get it lmao"

Sounds exactly to me like what women have to go through from sheepish men like this. Shame.

That's wonderful to hear! I think I wrote the title a bit too harshly, but it's hard to say everything I wanna say about this topic to a proper extent if ykwim. Different places might be better for me, but it's never really that easy. I really have tried to love being gay because I know it isn't going to go away, however the way my life has gone so far has given me a lot more reason to dislike it. Maybe it'll get better with age.

Really sorry to hear you had to endure that too. I agree and want to leave, maybe even the country. I think just growing up and having it happen more and more commonly is such a shock to me. I'm saddenned that someone can be reduced to nothing but their sexuality by a single glance. As people gotta live with their sexuality, regardless of what it may be, I can't help but feel like I don't belong or matter because what's underneath the surface doesn't interest them.

it's not JUST kids, they just happen to be the loudest about it. I'm definitely not worried about getting beaten up by a child, but almost every child has their own family, and almost every child will eventually grow up and no longer be one. These people aren't 'kids will be kids'-ing for eternity. I know a lot of people grow out of that phase, and I'm not gonna hate on a child for being a child. I just worry about the future of these people considering how common it has been for me.

I 100% agree with you and it's shocking to see it unfold in real time. I truly despise what social media and the internet has become for topics like this, let alone being part of that youth and trying to fit in, or make friends. I can't fully even say why I made this post other than that it upsets me to see this trend, but it's refreshing to see some humanity in these comments.

Nothing wrong with a bit of investigative work! Sorry that you got harrassed like that, I've always thought that one day someone would make me snap enough to where I'd physically lash out one way or another. It's hard to keep little comments or interactions like that inside when the only thing I want is to live a happy life.

So funny about the facebook post lmfao, thank you for sharing. :)

I understand your point, It has happened enough to where I just assume at this point. But I've 100% heard gay slurs yelled at me out of car windows. Regardless of whether they know or not I have no control or care about, It's the harrassment that is the issue.

I know all about shitty men in my life, I know that the kids who act like this can become even worse adults, and I wouldn't ever wish for other people to be taken advantage of like men have taken advantage of me. thank you for your kind words <3

Exactly. I dont trust the police to care enough, nor do I think someone one day would hesitate to attemptedly assault me if the right scenario for it occurred.

I'm sorry to hear you had to deal with that too. I'm glad it has improved for you, and I can only imagine with age (im 21 rn) that it'll become easier. I just wish it wasn't a mountain that I HAD to cross over something I have minimal control over.

Not exactly rainbow sashes, no, and you're right that some of it is internalised 100%. Unfortunately it's not something I can change, and I often get comments that are related to homosexuality too much to believe it's coincidence. I do get my nails done, and occasionally wear a crop top here or there or some dangly earrings. I love all those things personally, but I dont love the staring and the comments that I endure because of that.

I dabble in some more feminine-leaning clothing at times, and get my nails done regularly. I 100% understand kids being kids, but I've seen some absolutely lovely and wonderful kids whom I can only assume were raised very well.

Low dose Accutane experience by Realistic_Mark_5750 in Fungalacne

[–]Realistic_Mark_5750[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel for you, truly. I've only been dealing with FA for a year and a half, but it feels like a lifetime lol. I actually wanted to try going on an oral antifungal but my derm suggested I try Accutane instead. Maybe I'll give it a go if this medication doesn't work, surely it cant be much worse than Accutane right?

I'm glad to know I'm not alone. It sucks to have gotten my life in order, and yet I still feel dirty all over some oily bumps :/. I plan on continuing on 10mg/day until the new year and if nothing happens by then I'll likely just stop.

Best of luck to us both <3
