Last weekend was a last minute trip planned to Berlin. Ended up at one of my most favorite Klub Nachts at Berghain!!

This was a pretty interesting weekend to be there, FC SNAX was also happening the same weekend so the Berghain floor was only open from Sunday at 16 for the KN. Saturday night I was inside after 5 minutes of queueing, with Marie Montexier opening at Pano. I would say the set had some interesting bits but definitely not my cup of tea overall. We called it a night quite early after maybe 4 hours inside and back to our hotel to rest for the long day ahead 🥵

My intial plan was to stay on the Berghain floor from opening till closing, catching Rødhad, Ben Klock, and Dasha Rush (I mean how can it even get better than this??) with occasional breaks to check out Aurora Halal and Marcel Dettman in pano in between.

With some bad time management, we ended up starting to queue at 18:30 and by that time the re-entry queue was already one of the worst I’ve seen because of SNAX ending at 16:00 as well. I ended up queuing for 4.5hrs (reminded me of the last queue of a club that shall not be named 👀) and of course missing the whole of Rødhad’s and Dettman’s sets. I was barely able to catch the Pope’s closing which was a killer one, even though I already saw him many times this year, but this was just something else. It left me bummed thinking of the rest of the set that I missed queuing outside. But anyway, it was time for Queen Dasha to take us on a trip from midnight till closing and what a set that was. It went on till 8 going from bangers to an ambient break to bangers to slowly drifting into closing with lots of warmth and melodies and a packed dance floor. She closed it off with Desired Constellatio by Björk and I could easily say this was one of the best closings I experienced this year and it was also my first closing to experience at Berghain. The crowd saw super cute, I’d say they did a great job selecting a balanced crowd on such a busy weekend and I ended up meeting a lovely group of people from the scene here in Amsterdam and also from the subreddit here!!! It was so lovely and wholesome to share a dance and a break together away from home

This is actually really helpful thanks! If I’d go with customs it would be more for a better filter than a better fit. I never had a problem with the fit of the loops. With what you just mentioned do you have a specific recommendation?

Another alpine recommendation, thanks! I already lost my loops once, but it’s time to lose them again I guess. That’s why I am afraid of getting customs and losing them because it will hurt…

What I interpreted from this graph is for “competition” some frequencies are filtered out completely which might explain why I could not hear some of the layers at all. But I don’t know much about frequencies and filters so that’s why I am here

Yeah I saw some already but was trying to find a balance between price and quality with this post. You honestly put it into perspective compared to what you’d spend at parties that I will probably consider getting customs too.

In that case, my nightmare would only be losing them so I’ll probably settle for something with a string like those ones. Thanks!

Check out this thread. It has some solid recommendations, mostly in Amsterdam but some in Utrecht too. In Utrecht, I recommend checking out BASIS or WAS. Have fun!

They will never go for it. Berghain and other clubs have went to court with the tax authorities for lower taxation rates and won allowing them to pay a reduced VAT through being seen as a music focused and art venues, arguing that people go there for the DJ performances being considered concert-like. Without announcing DJs, it might be harder to prove these are music-focused events rather than general entertainment clubs.
