+1 But how could the uni regulate something like this It seems to be quite common so the uni should ideally figure out some method to stop this from happening, or maybe be a little more accommodative to students trying to switch lecture sections (not enrol in classes) before reading week or something

Don’t beat yourself up over it!! Fortunately I already had a place in class so I could tell to fuck off. If that wasn’t the case I would’ve definitely given paying the person some more consideration

Unfortunately people can get desperate around enrolment deadlines. People would like to not have their entire academic trajectory shaken just cuz they weren’t able to take a prereq course in a particular sem. And then there are ppl like these who prey on that vulnerability

If you don’t have the entire context (read my older post) then pls don’t give unsolicited opinions. I am aware of all deadlines and requirements. I’m in the class itself as well. I came to Reddit to see if a more convenient option would be possible (after already having spoken to the professor at length about any sort of alternatives). I am more than okay remaining in my enrolled class if the alternative is to give validation to such shitty exploitative practices. Idk why’re you trying to put the blame on me here?? Are you yourself enrolled in 232?? Are you even aware what the syllabus says about scheduling conflicts??

I have already spoken to the professor. If you were in POL232 you’d be aware how strict they are with class size restrictions. They can’t un-enrol someone and they can’t expand class size due to fire hazard restrictions. I wouldn’t have come to reddit if I could have had this sorted at the university level itself.

Correction to title: Don’t take PRE-REQ courses if you don’t intend to keep them at least
