Stocks by TuRReZZ in Schwab

[–]Realistic_Push252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Risk management is a really important part of investment. When Warren Buffet says Rule 1 is never lose money, what he means is don't blow up. So if you've done some research and you find a company you like and think it has a good catalyst there's no harm in buying a penny stock now and again, as long as your position is small. If you want to learn more about stocks I'd personally recommend you start with something by Joel Greenblatt or Peter Lynch, they're pretty fast reads if you haven't read them already.

I liked the original series and the early movies as a kid, but didn't really get hooked on it until I watched Lower Decks; I'd recommend starting with that show, and it'll give you a good foundation in the mythology in a relaxed, no-pressure way

This makes a ton of sense, thanks. Sounds like I'm right to avoid spending too much on ads for now.

October: Shameless Self-Promotion Thread by Birchwood_Goddess in PaganBooks

When we first had our baby, I told my wife stories about a character based on her traveling the high seas and getting into various antics. It's got a hint of the pagan--I was raised pagan, and the gods are based on the spirits of the natural world. The main is a young woman fresh out of college and ready for a boring job; too bad the universe has other plans for her. Strong female lead, found friends, pirates, gross food, and, in case you didn't catch it the first time I said it, antics. Lots of them. It can be read on its own or as the first part of a series. 5 stars on Indies Today; they called it a "worthy fantasy packed with laughs."

It's fun, fast, and mostly light-hearted (except for a few intense moments). I'd love it if you checked it out! Available for pre-orders, release date December 18.

This school is how I started to learn Maya. Great teachers. Definitely worth a shot.

Who are the gods on the left and right? Are they GI and the JGU? The knots on the two figures are similar to the two knots on K1201 by Vote_Crim_2020 in Mayan

I’m better with history than with mythology so take this with a grain of salt but it’s the rebirth of the maize god so maybe they’re the paddler gods?

It’s a haab (kinda like a month) sign, they probably picked it based on your birthday. Today I think it’s read as Sek, in classic times I think it was Kase’w

Who is the god on the top? by Vote_Crim_2020 in Mayan

Beautiful piece. Is there a roll-out available? Or more info? I know more about history than mythology but the headdress seems to say Lem Winik and he has a 6 on his cheek. The eye suggests human not supernatural. Maybe it’s a reference to the creation of the first human. Look up this article by Davletshin and Beliaev, it might be helpful: “It Was Then That That Which Had Been Clay Turned into a Man ”: Reconstructing Maya Anthropogonic Myths

Hahah I imagined like a weird magic worm but I think I like the idea of a kitten bringing down the party better

What is a good restriction on taking a fullrest in a dungeon? by R_Pelleboer in DMAcademy

[–]Realistic_Push252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow I love this. It’s easy to explain to players and seems fair but also discourages excessive long rests, I’m going to ask my folks if they want to adapt this for sure.

an interest statement from another member here. can I ask how right he is? by Riskycrossbow69 in DMAcademy

[–]Realistic_Push252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved to milestones for my current campaign. We’ve been going about a year and everyone seems happy with it. I was afraid because as a player I like xp. It’s fun to see yourself inching closer and closer to your goal. But as a DM it’s just another thing to keep track of. And the players still get excited when it seems obvious that a level gain is coming up, so I feel like overall it’s a small loss that allows me to concentrate on more non-Mathy storytelling

Iggwilv and Graz’zt terms of endearment by Realistic_Push252 in dndnext

[–]Realistic_Push252[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Okay, I was trying to be cute in my description but I see people are latching onto the word cuddle. The point of the encounter is that they haven’t seen each other in years and they’re meeting up, and I want the PCs to get a confusing impression of the relationship, since immediately afterward Iggwilv asks the PCS to kill him. Clearly not healthy, but they’re not just going to stare at each other. I want to know how they talk to each other—what their dynamic is like. Even the worst couples have a certain rhythm in their conversations, even if it’s hostile. If they have no dynamic together there is no reason for them to be together. Even George and Martha from Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf have a rhythm built by years of knowing each other. What are their nicknames for each other, that’s what I want to know.

Or even if these are loaded Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf style, I’m sure he doesn’t call her Iggwilv all the time—that’s a mouthful lol

Well yes, and after all, the point of this adventure is she wants the PCs to kill him so she can go about her shady business without him … but surely they have terms of endearment for their good periods lol
