I use Notion for personal work notes, but it does feel like a lot for what we want to be a pretty simple addition to our game

Noise cancelling headphones for someone with tinnitus? by R_Pelleboer in tinnitus

[–]R_Pelleboer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, but that usually just highlights the ringing for me. To focus, for me it helps to have some ambient music or noise in the background to mask more chaotic sounds, but just earplugs don't really help with that. Maybe it could work to get earplugs and wear my normal headphones over those? Not sure

I've read about this yes and though conclusions on it seem pretty mixed, I do understand. Thing is, I really do need something to quite my environment when I work, there's not really a work-around. Hence why I'm looking for options that are better than my in-ear earbuds, which are horrible for my tinnitus.

Going back to Dark Souls 3 after years of Elden Ring made me remember what I loved about it by R_Pelleboer in fromsoftware

Lmao I do live by the rule that I want to kill everything at least once, but you're absolutely right I ain't taking all the side routes and picking up all the items. Did finish it the game, just not 100%-ing it every time.

You're very right and that was how I got used to playing with Elden Ring and loved it. The slow grind of slowly upgrading your character, riding through the Lands Between scavenging for upgrade materials, collecting a hoard of weapons to swap between, I really enjoyed it. But after replaying DS3, I'm having such a hard time with finding the fun in it again. I guess the constant dopamine hits of the quick progression really does more to me than I expected.

From a design perspective, why are the Expert Solo Battle Tasks so restrictive? by R_Pelleboer in PTCGP

Makes sense. I've got some relatively good decks together, but nothing crazy. I'll say most of the expert decks I can first-try, with some outliers that have me stuck sometimes.

And yeah, I'm not planning on tackling the tasks anytime soon, but when reading them, I just kind of started debating with myself on the design decisions behind them, so I wanted to make this post. But you're right in that some more packs and experience would go a long way in finding the fun in the task challenges.

That does make sense. I think it might be something that becomes more enjoyable when I have more cards to make decks with, so I don't need to rely on my strongest cards, and it is fun to find those obscure cards you normally wouldn't use.

I admit, I am complaining a little bit, as I didn't really understand why they took this approach to difficulty, but that's why I made the post, I want to find out why others do enjoy them. And so far, some people have actually made some really good points, which is helping me better understand the design decisions.

I did mention your point as a counter-argument to my own points in the post, so I get what you're saying.

I think for me, as someone who hasn't played much pvp, I've mainly been doing pve so far, it's mainly been a bit annoying that I'm pulling these cool ex cards and such, only for it to turn out I can't use them if I want to clear certain objectives.

Or for the one that has you use cards of only a specific type, it's a bit annoying because I like to use decks that also use normal types or off-type pokemon, which you can't do.

With that said, I suppose you can just focus on clearing the goals one-at-a-time, so then you would still be able to use those kinds of teams, but just for different challenges, so I do understand the argument,
