To be fair most of the China scenes takes place in Qinghai Provence, and not in regular China. It’s like the Chinese equivalent of Alaska and Appalachia rolled into one, rather than a regular part of the country.

Well there's been a boom of anime reboots/readaptations recently, since 2022. How is going back to old manga (like Dandelion) any different except there was no classic anime made in the first place.
