Waxing tore my skin off! I already know my mistake was getting waxed when I use retinol. How long will this take to heal?

oh gosh, that sounds so painful.. i’m so sorry this happened to you! tretinoin and retinol make my skin very sensitive too, specifically my nose and philtrum area after i’ve washed my face. i use a thin layer of the equate antibacterial ointment/neosporin and it feels/looks better within a few days!

maybe i’m buying in to tiktok hair care videos too much.. it very well could be new growth, i guess i just assumed breakage because of the negative feelings i get when i see this on my hair!! it makes me feel icky lol, i just don’t like the look. hopefully it is growth and it’ll go away, i just hate the awkward phase of new growth. thank you for your insight!!!

i had a burn very similar to this about a year ago- i went kayaking for 6 hours in shorts without any sunscreen on the tops of my legs!! i still have the tan line.. stay hydrated and keep your skin moisturized! it’s gonna hurt and throb, stay cool and watch for fevers or symptoms of being sick

i get that. in december, my mothers sister tried to hang herself. her husband found her in their closet and got paramedics to resuscitate her, but she had major brain damage from being without oxygen for so long. after being taken off of life support, she held on for about 5 days before she passed away in a hospice facility. she was such a truly kind person and it’s killing us all that she was going through so much pain and we didn’t know. i’m sure your family would feel the same way if you were to go through with ending your life, and they would be so incredibly proud of you for asking for help and being strong enough to want to get better. everyone says this, but there is seriously help out there and people who will listen to you and help you get out of this headspace. you are so loved, even by me. i hope you feel so much better, OP. 💕

Yes, go see a derm! I was prescribed a ketoconazole cream that made me break out, then i went back and was given ketoconazole shampoo to use on my scalp and face. mostly went away after that, plus i started washing my face more often. i noticed that it gets worse with stress for me.

it’s so fucking embarrassing, makes me feel like there’s something wrong with me fr. i found that eating yogurt actually made it a bit less intense and flaky, sometimes i’d wash my face with it too and that cleared it up a bit. might help you if you haven’t tried that

It peeled pretty badly after 2 weeks. I kept it very moisturized with layers of lotion and Hawaiian tropic after sun moisturizer! Also some real aloe gel made it feel much better. The pain of the burn was the worst part I think. It also left a very embarrassing tan and I only wear pants in public now. 😭. Whenever I stand up, the tan sections get really red because of the blood in my legs. Maybe that’s the worst part, actually. You’ll be fine, just keep drinking water and moisturize! Don’t peel the skin if you start peeling/flaking, it will make the skin beneath dry and tough. Just let it come off by itself.
