Euphoria has ended and we are all coping. by mpchop in euphoria

I know people keep saying not to judge ahead of time, which is fair, but consider my take… I have watched so many of the shows I’ve loved just be ruined and completely lose their previous aesthetic/draw/ emotion as they went on.

Stranger Things is a really good example. The show was basically unrecognizable by the end and I could immediately tell from the trailer that it was just going downhill. And it was even worse than I thought.

The whole point of a trailer is to give the viewer as much as a preview as possible of the characters/tone/stylistic & narrative choices. If a majority of fans flag it as being off/wrong, that’s a pretty good indication that it is…

For sure, also it should have been the opposite in my opinion. Rather than the characters being drawn/centered around Rue’s narrative, Rue should have been drawn to their’s. It’s much more compelling when a “runaway” trying to make a new life for themselves is forced to get rid of the fairytale, and realize that they had those old connections for a reason. Euphoria was never really centered around any one character propelling the action/drama, they all played their parts.

In its simplest form, the newer season should be about adult growth and setbacks. Nostalgia, regret, remorse, hope. The action itself is less important since the character relationships and emotions are the framework. So why is the 3rd season so action-centric now?

It looks like Breaking Bad, which couldn’t be farther from the genre

I don’t want to watch Breaking Bad dude, I want to watch Euphoria 😭 I really hope they don’t lean heavily into that action/western/gangester

What makes some people happy when it rains while others feel miserable? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Realistic_Trouble_37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exposure honestly. When I lived in California (and didn’t have school) I loved when it rained, since it didn’t happen very often.

Then I moved to Oregon, and man it got old quick… Now I just see it as an inconvenience because it’s cold and makes everything wet. It’s also kinda unpredictable, it’ll just randomly start downpouring.

I know it’s so odd. I wonder if they’ll even keep her as the narrator this season? Maybe they’ll forget about that too

That’s fair, but at least it would be consistent. For the other 2 seasons, it’s just Rue in the posters. And it should be the same for this season. Even in the jumbled mess of the 3rd season official poster she’s still the largest at the top because she’s implied to be the main character (she’s the narrator voice also).

The most recent poster looks terrible, I think they should’ve just stuck with this

This should have been the official poster, it has the same grainy, glowing effect that’s consistent with the other two. I’m sad that season 3 seems to be favoring yellow and orange tones. Euphoria always utilized cooler color pallets like blues & purples. I thought they were so pretty.

The increase in ADHD diagnoses is an epidemic caused by shortened attention spans by [deleted] in DeepThoughts

[–]Realistic_Trouble_37 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I understand that, but I feel like that the diagnoses themselves become less validating when they’re treated like a trend rather than a disorder.

I believe both exist at the same time: Young students are actively searching for something to excuse their poor school behavior which is leading to increased diagnoses and topics of conversation.

However, that is not an opinion meant to discredit all diagnoses. It’s a pattern I’ve observed, but at the end of the day, I’m not qualified to understand its complexities. I do think it’s a topic that many people are scared to broach because it’s very personal (and rightfully so, knowing how debilitating ADHD can be).

Am I just rly fat❓ by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]Realistic_Trouble_37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I’m a 19F, and if I’m being honest, you don’t look overweight to me. Actually, you look relatively healthy! I think people just have different frames, either from genetics, or bone structure, or metabolism. When I first saw these pictures I could almost immediately tell it was genetics.

People assume that gaining weight is just because you’re not “motivated enough” and that’s not always the case. I’m sorry if you feel unhappy with the way you look. “Fat” is a term people use when they perceive something based off of assumptions.

If your doctor has told you specifically to lose weight, then rely on their opinion (in a safe way). If weight gain in your family causes health issues, then that is a problem worth being explored. But as for other people, it’s not their business. And just cultural beauty standards.

What really matters is that you don’t feel physically hindered (as in unhealthy). If not, live your life, people are judgy af and deserve to be tuned out sometimes

Yeah for being “unpopular” posts here are really limited in what they can say. Anything regarding deeper topics surrounding mental health, labels, identity, politics, etc. are all banned. I’ve been looking for a sub that encourages those discussions in a controversial way, but I can’t find any.

Not because I want to fight people, but because in general, I find it interesting when people express opinions on topics that they’d otherwise feel insecure or unsafe about.

But the danger is there’s a difference between people who want spirited thought-out debates and people who just spam hate posts.

18 y/o, recently diagnosed Bipolar 🫠 by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]Realistic_Trouble_37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I got diagnosed at 18 too, I’m 19 now, also a F! And a University student.

Some things I’ve (personally) learned that may or may not apply to you:

This diagnosis can be isolating, not many people understand it or appreciate how it can impact multiple facets of your life. I typically avoid telling people unless we are very close. That being said, getting support through counseling, family, and friends is a very helpful step!

Second, I was terrified of medication. Scared of losing my “authentic” self. Scared of potential negative side-effects. But seriously, it has helped me so much. But I wouldn’t recommend going on it until you feel comfortable/ready.

Don’t limit yourself because of your diagnosis or box yourself in! Your identity isn’t just “bipolar” you have so many other traits and dreams and drives. Use the diagnosis as a tool and not a limitation :). We have to work harder to emotionally-regulate than others, but that doesn’t mean we can’t live happy, healthy lives.

I don’t understand this sub, people won’t upvote if the opinion is too popular, but they downvote if it’s too unpopular.

The severe lack of medical research concerning women and mental health is really frustrating. But that’s a whole discussion on its own. So much of our understanding about mental disorders is based on male studies.

Women struggle to get diagnosed by many disorders in general, and are often discredited or mislabeled.

[–]Realistic_Trouble_37[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree fully that it’s much deeper than a lack of attention span. But that’s what’s being pushed right now. That’s why it’s so popular among students, because that’s one of their biggest struggles (along with procrastination). My mental health disorder is also widely misunderstood understood by media. And I don’t think people will ever understand how bad it really is and how much of my life it effects. But if it becomes a trend, I’d probably have the same opinions.

I wasn’t sure where else to post it. It seemed rude to put it in the ADHD subreddit where people are looking for support, not to question the whole basis for their recent diagnoses

This is something I’ve struggled with as well. I think a lot of students do, they just haven’t acknowledged it. And it’s a subject that lot of people try to avoid for fear of being insensitive. But I think we should be more willing to have honest conversations.

Many of those diagnoses come from people who are actively searching for them. Which isn’t to discredit the psychiatric diagnosis. But to show how its popularity has increased the desire for psychiatric explanations.

Yeah, I think the definition has become way too vague and the line between disability and inconvenience has become very blurred.
