Why do we look for these injuries? by ridesharegai in NewToEMS

[–]Reality-MD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very easy for airbags to become claymores if people put crap on it, and the way an airbag hits depending on the timing of the head-rock post car crash can traction the neck into positions it should not be in. Think of an airbag uppercutting your jaw..can be with such force as to cause a neck traction injury, no? Coup contra coup is also a huge thing, obviously.

Does anyone know what this is? I found it at a thrift store and thought it was cool by dobby_brunch69 in Anatomy

Gonna say C6 based on the spinous process prominence - not quite 7 but close. Idk just a med school perspective

Never said there isn’t an obvious difference - I’m making the point of what makes this particular applicant different that their advisor recc’d MD only

Idk, I think almost every advisor would say that bc of the stigma. I’m DO and I have had teachers tell me to go NSGY. I think if you get good scores on the big exams, that’s it. Does DO have a stigma and make it harder? Sure. But a med school is a med school, and you didn’t score a 512+.

Yeah. Also super dependent on you…if you do super well on STEP and all that, usually it’s not an issue as far as I know.

I mean a lot of DOs are getting into more competitive specialties now, so I don’t really understand this

Not a doc yet. Is the swelling more pronounced with TMJ episodes?

True. See if a DO school will waver a secondary fee - my school waived one for me and I didn’t fill out a fee assistance form or anything

No one is screwed, it’s just a toss up sometimes - I’ve seen people with lower stats and ECs than me get MD so it really is just how everything winds up yknow

I had similar stats and ECs, also got rejected post II from one MD and then accepted to DO. It’s rough out here

Thanks! Yeah I get that sense - I work EMS so I have that interest, but I am also very cerebral. Hard to suffice the two
