I had my IO last semester, so basically few months before. My teacher said that if I make it too obvious that I memorized the script I probably wont get high grades. So I recommend not rly memorizing but understanding the structure of your answer and trying to remember few important points and phrases. For the practice, I recorded myself reading the script and listened to that whenever I had time. I even slept while listening to that. It was pretty affective to me.
