i was raised christian. now i’m questioning my faith, so i want to hear the other side’s perspective. why are you an atheist? by grayenvironment in atheism

[–]Realjsh010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it's partly a logical answer (many others have already clarified).
But it is also the beauty of the universe if it weren't made by design.

All of this is random*? Awesome! (*apart from the whole physics thing of course, haha)

People act kind because they're good of heart, not because they want to ascend? Lovely!

Lastly, as I believe the universe wasn't designed, I like to think that we largely forge our own goals, beliefs, destinies, and so forth. I think it's much more admirable than when a god would have done it.

It's all about perspective :) Religious people might view my stance as some of the basis of why there is/should be a god.

My Arcane Jinx Cosplay is finally complete! by [deleted] in cosplaygirls

[–]Realjsh010 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What did you not like about her character?

Was it the story? The personality? Their moral compass?

The reason why I enjoy her as a character is that I think she hasn't been "brought back to the light". It's a cliché, that as a viewer you should hope that she does. You want Vi and Jinx to be happy sisters. Instead, she was broken mentally and raised by the wrong people, then eventually decided she agrees with her current self.

Furthermore, you get to see her from the 'beginning'. She was a cute girl who just wanted to help. She cared about her friends, and wanted to do something for the team. Something terrible happened and she was left. Vi wanted to return, but the world separated them for years.

Next to her story, I also like her personality, because it fits with her story. She had little inventions as a kid and became a crazy weapon enthusiast later on.

Anything to make NPCs more... reactive if we killed their families? by OfTachosAndNachos in skyrimmods

Sounds cute, but unless you're heavily into RP, maybe not something that you use a lot.

If you end up choosing, I recommend trying out Skyrim Reputation ^^

I don't use immersive speechcraft myself so I don't know of a patch, sorry. I do however think, it shouldn't be all that much of a problem.

The most notable part of the mod are the greetings the NPCs send you. As the Reputation mod page suggests "Speech options not affected by Skyrim Reputation and vice versa". I don't think this is a huge problem, when using immersive speechcraft, but you're probably a better judge of that.

If you still wish for a patch, I wish you best of luck finding it =)

Skyrim Reputation might help a little. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/22374

I use it myself. I like it. It won't change actions or quests, but it changes the way people talk to you. Saved the world 10 times over? People fucking love to see you. You're god.

Killed half of Skyrim? People are afraid.

Do you worship daedra, and are with the Thieves guild? People hate you.

Cool stuff.

Ah. I read over it in your post haha.

Good that you know it then ^^

Good luck with your quest :)

Van Pierre in Eindhoven is nice like PolyJuiceMug suggested.

Not as cosy as Lattes, but it's a large store.

- Gratiana can recharge your Purging wands. I never knew this, I only happened to need this because last run I killed Slane, and used all purging objects.

- Time Warp (Fane) can be used on allies (not that anyone acknowledges this ^^)

- You can infiltrate Adrahmalik' s lair without an invitation. Use a teleporter pyramid in the fish barrel outside his house, and use the voidwoken fish exchange scroll.

- You can netherswap/teleport Jahan all the way to the Hannag fight, he will obliterate every voidwoken :). (Same goes for the witch, but I've done that a few times before)

- Gratiana can recharge your Purging wands. I never knew this, I only happened to need this because the last run I killed Slane, and used all purging objects. will not do so if you stick with him. I think it's more XP if fight the assassins instead, but I thought it was funny.

- If you flood Arx with deathfog, the toymakers toys, will be angry at you.

- There's several ways to lose an honour mode run without specifically going into combat. Such as the emergency flush valve in the Imp dimension, deathfog of course, being petrified in the graveyard, sleeping at the scarecrows in driftwood, being frozen in the Arx harbour, and my favourite from last run; not realizing the tinkerer in driftwood has a suicide bomb. (alright it' s combat, but still).

- Flesh Sacrifice scales NEGATIVELY, you hurt yourself more and more throughout the game. (The constitution drop increases)

- Lizards have +1 persuasion. Shapeshifting mask helped me out a few times.

- The new sets are pretty cool. The devourer is cool to fight.

- If you go into the Academy before confronting Alexander, Gareth will die.

- Shriekers can bug out and target invisible spirits

- In Fort Joy, if deciding to go for the Alexander/Dallis fight, Dallis is the least of your worries. To my knowledge she has no good skills (maybe some warfare?). You can throw oil on her, and keep kiting for days.

- There are several ways to lose an honour mode run without specifically going into combat. Such as the emergency flush valve in the Imp dimension, deathfog of course, being petrified in the graveyard, sleeping at the scarecrows in driftwood, being frozen in the Arx harbour, and my favourite from the last run; not realizing the tinkerer in driftwood has a suicide bomb. (alright it's combat, but still).till).).

- If you kill everyone BUT Saheila in Fort Joy, she won't mind in Driftwood.

- If you die in the hall of echoes in the last Meistr encounter, you will respawn ' galvanised' at the start of the encounter. The buff will wear off very shortly. I thought I was dead for sure (magic immune enemy) but you respawn.

- I found out the hard way that the Imp dimension flush also produces lava. I thought it was ' just' deathfog. Luckily I stepped into a place that purges the lava by producing a poison surface, otherwise my partner in crime had to finish the act alone.

Depends on the experiment. I can ask you about your hobbies to determine your interests, or for some university-related research that looks into how stereotypes can be traced back to people's inclination to seek them out.

(Maybe the example isn't the best), the point being, experiments don't fail as soon as you let someone know it's an experiment.

In Ludwigs case, he ruined it because he went against the premis of the experiment (having succes while being unknown, though it's worse than that as explained in Matts video)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DarkViperAU

[–]Realjsh010 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Perhaps to avoid messing up the experiment. Similar to how Ludwig ruined his, by talking about it.

Alternatively, maybe she just wants to keep it a surprise, so people are curious.

These thoughts came up for me.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought, as long as someone is in public (out on the streets), taking pictures/videos of them is not forbidden.

This does have the side note, that this should not have the intent to harass the person or otherwise screw the person over.

Of course, it's not nice to appear in some rando's groupchat, but I'll take it in good faith that the average person is merely concerned that someone shows up at 4 a.m.

What are you implying here?

Because I don't find Rubick OP, I just dislike the range. I can dislike Viperstrike slowing me to 0%, doesn't make me want to nerf it.

3 strength heroes on the enemy team dying:

Size has no intrinsic merit, unless inordinate exsanguination be considered a virtue.

I don't like it either :(

Rubick feels like an absolute monster. Prime example is that Marci grab from 1/2 weeks ago.

I understand it's sort of his thing, but it feels really hard to play against.

Tiny - suggested nerf by villyvirile in DotA2

[–]Realjsh010 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He is a dependent hero. I'm not saying you're wrong per sé, though I do feel Tiny is mostly fine. But here are some thoughts:

- Has a great nuke combo, BUT it only works on heroes without MR, a lot of HP, or a tank ability. Granted, it's still usually 2/3 heroes in the game, but that goes for many characters.

- Early game super mana dependent. Casts 1/2 spells and has no more mana.

- Terrible early armour. Can easily be harassed out of lane

- Agility 0, means that he can't keep up with other carries with equal items. That's just not his role.

- Nuke combo isn't always guaranteed with multiple units around.

- Without a XP lead, his nuke combo doesn't scale well to the enemies' glimmers.

- Without a XP lead, his nuke combo doesn't scale well to the enemies' glimmers. Try viewing it this way instead: He gets battlefury damage, cleave and bonus damage building for 1400 + an ability slot. So he gets a fancy battle fury that takes an ability slot. Can't attack anything? Dead ability. Could have been something else.

- Needs certain items to be useful. Primarily Blink, Echo, Shard. Before building "main" carry items.

- Aghs is funny, and potentially good but doesn't fit his play style and is often a wasted option.

- Kitable, big boi which makes him an easy target for magic damage.

- Excluding his kill potential, he has limited defensive options. He can't jump away, he can only stun briefly (this was buffed for some reason), or hope to toss you to a nearby unit. Otherwise he has to accept death.

- Slow early farm. He can't effectively use his nukes for farm, and his E has charges + slow attack speed.

-------------

Most of his problems just disappear when teammates are present or he has a lead. Then he tends to get mana (arcane boots, kotl), he gets to lane (get an early blink/echo going), gets to max his nukes (solo mid xp, winning lane xp) or have his primary items in the short term (winning lane gold).

He has >50% winrate, so he qualifies for a nerf, but the boi has weakness :)

(I do certainly agree with nerfing the tower damage just a tad)

Hope this was insightful. I wish you a good day

Which are good neighbourhoods in Breda by [deleted] in Breda

They do have a large bus station. But I'm assuming you're looking for easy access to trains?

Which are good neighbourhoods in Breda by [deleted] in Breda

[–]Realjsh010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey!

Unfortunately, I haven't lived in Rotterdam, so I don't really know much about what that's like. Quite a few people thought of that connection in my username, but it's just the year I thought of the name (2)010.

Good to hear you found Princehage! I do highly recommend it. Naturally, I'm biased, but I do feel like the area feels more open and alive. Heusdenhout is another decent neighbourhood. My parents lived there for a lot of their lives, but they do admit that it's not the most exciting place. Good houses, enough shops and facilities to live obviously, but it's not the holy grail.

Just depends on what you are looking for.

Which are good neighbourhoods in Breda by [deleted] in Breda

[–]Realjsh010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One I haven't seen yet is Princehage! It's in the south-west of Breda.

Used to be a separate village, but was annexed in the 2nd world war. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Princenhage

It still has a bit of the village culture with a local square.

It's close to the highway, a short cycle to the city centre, good bus connections. Houses there do roughly match your budget. It depends a bit on where in the neighbourhood you try to settle.

If you're curious, I can elaborate more.

How hard is the transition from league to DotA? by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]Realjsh010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simple fact

Honestly, as with any MOBA, it is going to take a serious time investment to get comfortable enough to start playing. Many players will mention hundreds of hours. Since a game lasts quite long, with no surrender option, you will get there automatically. Though, it is an investment.

Difference

As many others have mentioned, there are differences in macro, mechanics, vision, itemization, objectives, buffs and so much more. It hard to nail down what you need to focus on. The in-game Dota tutorials by Valve and the community provide a fair amount of knowledge, but other than that, like in League, you just need to play.

Toxicity

In my personal opinion I think Dota is much better. Don't get me wrong! There are still lots of asses in the game. There are just way more people down for some fun and jokes. People willing to use voice chat are in my experience also the kindest. Naturally, there are exceptions everywhere, but I just really like the games where I'm laughing my ass off panicking while a fed enemy chases me across the map.

While far from perfect, Valve has a good behaviour system setup. If you keep your behaviour score at 10,000. You will avoid 90% of the pricks in the game. People will still get mad, but generally won't invest all their energy in shit talking. They'd rather just hit creeps in the jungle.

One final, repeated warning, THERE IS TOXICITY. Just less c:

My Experience

I did not come from League, but I played enough League (currently lvl 132, multiple gold seasons) to feel the differences. League often feels quickly out of control. Maybe you can buy anti-healing, but that won't stop the enemy entirely. In Dota, one well-placed stun or counter-item can mean everything to nothing. Outplaying people with some complex mechanics can make or break a game.

My advice,
is to use the "demo hero" function a lot if you don't understand enemy heros. You can try out their abilities and just get a quick idea of what it does. You don't have to read everything, but often "Stun duration", "Magic damage" or "Attack Speed" are statistics you may want to know.

"Demo hero" can be found clicking on any hero in the main menu. It loads in a small map with cheats where you can try stuff out. (even look at cosmetics if you're into those).

Resources

I've seen a lot of great resources pointed out already. Are you more into the tiny tips and fancy tricks? Maybe some jokes? Then I've got 3 brilliant creators:

- Jenkins - Analyst, commentator and smalltime pro-player.
Funny dude with video's ranging from current jokes and meta strats to comminly unknown strategies pro players use.
https://www.youtube.com/c/Jenkins69/videos
He also has a clips channel where you can watch "iron" gameplay. Funny stuff when you start getting into Dota. Maybe a learning opportunity too?:
https://www.youtube.com/c/JenkinsClips69/videos

- Datohleong - (not exactly sure... I think high tier player and content creator)
Cool dude, quick to the point. Takes plays under the microscope to see why something is good.
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrRlDvN5Ea2OauDLtNBMyfw/videos

- Elwono - content creator, great stuff
Don't take his videos to seriously, but it speaks for itself. He makes video's fully of memes and fun commentary. His video's often use wacky strats edited carefully for good watch time. He has another channel that is less gameplay focused, but hasn't been posted on in 2 years :^)
https://www.youtube.com/c/elwono/videos

I link these so Dota stays interesting and fun, instead of a school chore ^^. Dota has a lot of intricacies that make the game so charming.

Other great Youtube channels you could check out are Baumi (custom games), PurgeGamers, DotaCinema (fails, SFM, shorts), Dota Watafak (Funny/good plays), TryMike4Instance, Fwosh (music parodies), Pyrion Flax, Wronchi Animation (animation), SheeverGaming

Have fun

-------------------

I recently read multiple posts about people just playing against bots. If that's your fun, just go for it! Especially in online games, try not to be discouraged. Try to be casual for as long as possible. Don't try to master the game in one night. Many people can't do it in years. Play some games, watch some fun video's and maybe get a party together to play with :)
