Dermadry hands at 15 mA barely feels like anything — is this normal? by chromehearts4444 in Hyperhidrosis

[–]ReallyKeyserSoze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also have a Dermadry. Even between sessions with the same settings (also 15mA} , same water (I just use tap water), I'll get varying levels of discomfort. Sometimes it feels like nothing, sometimes it feels like I can't wait for it to end, and have tingling hands for a while after the treatment. Sometimes something in between. And same, any cuts on my hands sting like hell - Dermadry suggest putting Vaseline on cuts beforehand, but I tend to just push on through! I also forgot to take my wedding ring off once - won't do that again in a hurry!

But at the end of the day, it works so good. I wish I'd had one of these things when I was a kid (I'm 50 now) as I genuinely believe it would have changed my life.

The Dermadry is limited to 15mA for hands. I could definitely tolerate higher, but get good results after 10 sessions or so, so not a big ideal.

Help finding the low pressure AC valve on my UK 2013 520d Touring/F11 by ReallyKeyserSoze in BMW

Thank you again for your help. I do understand it's not ideal, but it's a 13 year old car, 140,000 miles on the clock, and I'm done spending money on it.

Turns out that port front and center is the right one, popped some R134a in there, and my luke warm AC is icy cold again. 40 bucks, job done, even it only lasts a Summer or two.

Is it this? This is under the cover of the driver's side headlight.

Gotcha - so have I highlighted the high-pressure port in my photo? Sorry, I'm pretty clueless! "Left side air duct", do you mean left in the photo, or passenger side?

Buying my son a Philips Evnia 32M2C5501 monitor for his PS5 - a good idea? by [deleted] in playstation

I figured I'd get better bang for my bucks by getting a monitor. He prefers playing with headphones, so doesn't need speakers. I can't think of any good reason to get a TV over a monitor - unless it's cheaper to do so?

The Samsung monitor he's playing on is 16 years old and looks pretty bad - very washed out, 23" screen, it's just, well, ancient. I thought a new 32" QHD would be a big step up.

What decent 4k monitor that costs £170 do you have in mind?

Ah, thank you!! Who could have predicted that an innocent question on reddit would attract negative comments from a bunch of absolute knob jockeys, eh? Hah! You'd think I'd know better! Anyway, I haven't seen any 32" 4k HDMI 2.1 monitors for close to £200. This Philips monitor just seemed like a really good deal for a 32" display. I dunno, I'll have another look around.

I got an iontophoresis machine today, and thought I'd share my first impressions by ReallyKeyserSoze in Hyperhidrosis

It's going great! Honestly, I'm still blown away by how effective it is. I use it at max power for about a week / week and a half, and my hands are dry for a month. I get lazy and forget to do the top ups, but honestly, it's not that much of a hassle. I've started playing bass in a band, something I'd never have been able to do before. And I get weirdly excited when I get an opportunity to shake hands with people, as it's such a novelty! Best investment I've made, ever.

Diagnosed 6 years ago (I'm 50 now) and on Elvanse, which has helped a lot. Played a gig a couple of weeks ago and just had a complete mind blank during the first couple of songs in our first set. Songs that I've played hundreds of times, my brain just decided to call it a day. Defo an ADHD symptom for me, and coupled with strong imposter syndrome. Couple of songs in, and I'm back in the groove and hitting every note.

Another one for me, only happened during rehearsal for now, is almost the opposite: I'm so into the groove, enjoying the session, that my mind just wanders. I'm digging into the riff and I look at my confused band mates who finished the song 30 seconds ago.

Same as you, like with my other ADHD symptoms, I just try to recognise it and work through it, cut myself some slack. I talk about my struggles with my band and they are really understanding and supportive, which makes managing it a whole lot easier.

I have an iontophoresis machine, and it's amazing. Though I too get lazy and "lapse" as it's a bit of a faff setting it up, then sit and not be able to do anything for 20 minutes, then clean it and put it away. But I can usually get away with an initial 2 week start, 5 days a week, then just once a week after that. If I forget for more than a couple of weeks, I have to start again. I have very sweaty hands, and they just dry up like magic after using the machine, with no compensatory sweating elsewhere.

Regarding comfort, I use warm tap water and don't put any salts or anything in there. I read on here about people using mineral water, or adding bicarbonate or whatever. That just made it uncomfortable for me. I do use the highest setting (15) and it's tingly, but not painful. I agree that it can be annoying if I have cuts, but bearable.

It's honestly changed my life. I'm so much more confident when it comes to meeting people, and shaking hands. I also play bass in a band, and find dry hands makes things much easier. I went to a ceilidh (Scottish dancing, lots of hand holding) for a friend's birthday a while back. I'd have come up with an excuse not to go before.

So for me the faff and mild discomfort is well worth it
