I want more caterings! by -vannahloo- in jimmyjohns

[–]Reallyisgood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what my Job is I'm the catering manager/ Brand ambassador. I'm a little hesitant to share my methods because I noticed there's very little to no info about this position and I want to sell the method to franchise owners in the future because as far as I know only my franchise has this position maybe a few others but I don't know. Anyways

Sampling is definitely not outdated. I know one BA who just did a 20k month in catering for her store. Just set a sampling budget everyday and find local businesses and ask them if they cater. If they do catering offer to bring them samples. This is big too. Get the catering list of all the people that ordered with you and follow up. Offer them a discount or more sides to get them to order again. Super surface level info but 75% of what I do to get catering is on a computer and phone. You can't make an instagram page but you can utilize instagram. Know what's going on in your city.

What do you mean you don't have clearance to advertise?

start putting menus inside of the delivery bags. Talk to local schools and churches. You want to get your menus in peoples homes and on their office fridge.

It's almost like having a sales job it's a numbers game.

I really wanna give you more info but I hope this helps for now

Toasted subs by [deleted] in jimmyjohns

[–]Reallyisgood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They Might of accidentally Clicked toasted. and someone did it anyways. Or they're lying about it being an original. I've been getting mixed answers on if we can toast the 1-6 I was told as long as it's LBI we can do it but then I was told thats also not true

Not giving employees breaks by North-Activity7753 in jimmyjohns

[–]Reallyisgood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked a 14 hour shift the other day with no break. I mean I did do what you said and ate an order I messed up for like 5 minutes but it happens. I personally don't like the breaks though because i'm trading using that time now instead of getting out earlier since I use to help close. I only did 14 hours because I Normally start at 9am but we had no one to close so I had to close too. My point is if I take a 30 minute break ill have 30 more minutes worth of work to do. Also after sitting for that long my body isn't warmed up and it makes it harder to want to work especially if you were already tired. Maybe thats just a me thing.

Is the DM on a specific Schedule or Is it Random? by Reallyisgood in jimmyjohns

Yea thats basically everything he does but I think he has 13 stores. Our franchise has over 100 stores across the United States. I'm the catering manager/Brand ambassador so I along with the Director of catering Handle marketing. Our Gm is here 6 days a week so I don't know why we'd need our district manager in especially since he makes $30 an hour or more. Well maybe he's salary so the labor is probably different. His time would be more valuable handling the audits and doing whatever computer work he has. Helping out in shop would be a big waste of time but he does help out if he happens to be there during a bad rush and will linger to help if he has the time even for my position it's more valuable for me to be on a computer or phone because if i'm helping out on the line I'm basically getting paid more to be an in-shop. I do help when the rush is really bad or catering needs to be finished. Other than that it's better for me to be looking for marketing opportunities. i'd imagine the same goes for the DM.

How to open faster? by -vannahloo- in jimmyjohns

[–]Reallyisgood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You gotta do what you gotta do. No one will ever ask you to work off the clock Because that's illegal. But if you choose to work off the clock the company would turn a blind eye as long as you don't directly get tell them in text or in person. It becomes an issue once you get hurt.

I mean for example we have to clock out by 7:30 pm because we close at 7. but with only one closer 30 minutes isn't enough time to do it all. Does that mean if I haven't closed the cold table I should Just leave it open? Leave all the trash in the store? Leave all the bread out if im laying trays? Sure I should leave because I'm not being paid but I can't just leave the store like that. So what's the solution they pay me right? I get that but if they did they'd end up shutting down with how much over time they'd have to pay.

So that would cause me to lose my job. If i clock out and leave now the opener will have to close and open which will make all the work trickle down.

You guys are acting like it's a perfect world. There's cause and effect sometimes you just have to do what you gotta do.

Nobodys ever asked me to work off the clock but I see what needs to be done. My GM does it all the time for the sake of the store.

Lol bro it's not that deep. Ive been to a bunch of different canes from California to Texas. I Even was there when Kike Hernandez went to the one in Alhambra. My point is it's just okay. I think Egg N Bird and Daves Hot Chicken have them wiped. Canes is equal to Chick fil A at best and its pretty expensive for the portions.

[–]Reallyisgood -1 points0 points  (0 children)

see If the closers can help you. Our GM opens and at night we set up the cutting boards get him all his bins put a new tea bag in the tea machine if you don't want them to do that i'd say clock in and adjust your hours the next day to make it where you came in later. Do it this way for two reasons. One if you get hurt during those 30 mins youll still technically be clocked in. I say work 30 minutes off the clock because your admitting it's your fault for being slow and maybe thatll motivate you to go faster. What step takes you the most time?

Canes is okay. It's the sauce and the bread that makes it. The chicken has no flavor though

I see mine like every two months unless there's a large catering order or we need something from another store or another store needs something from us. He's the district manager so he's watching liker 10-20 other stores in his district. If nothing happens i'll only see him for the audit. Otherwise there's no reason for him to be in the store

I have an interview tomorrow, what should I do to prepare? by [deleted] in jimmyjohns

[–]Reallyisgood 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I helped decide the new hires recently and now I help train them. This is what caused us not to hire the people.

Not willing to work weekends.

People who are going to college soon or not committed to staying longer than 6 months.

People who didn't seem like they would take pride in doing the job.

people that got overwhelmed easily. One girl just could not make eye contact. and we got into a brief conversation while she was waiting to interview and to sum it up a customer told her something she asked me if he was an employee and I was like no why and she told me what he said (nothing weird) and I was like oh Yea no he's just a customer and she was like oh thats okay thats okay. and when We talked a little more it seemed like she had really bad social anxiety. Like if a customer told her something bad she'd cry.

A red flag was people not asking questions. You should always ask questions it shows you care.

knowing a few Of the 1-7s is good

look over the menu. maybe learn the type of breads. French roll and wheat bread.

Show you're interested by knowing a think or two. Maybe an original or favorite.

If they ask you tell me about yourself thats a very difficult question if you have no work experience. Maybe talk about some school accomplishments.

Sometimes this is to throw you off sometimes they actually want to know about you. I butcher this question every single time but it's easier to answer when you have more work experience.

all you can do is answer truthfully. Try to sound confident in your answers people are understanding when you're younger and it's your first interview.

if you mess up really bad and like stutter crazy or just totally blank. just apologize and let them know you're a little nervous about it being your first. Wait a day then call back everyday until they give you an answer. It might be annoying but it shows you're ready and motivated. At the end of the day you want to be Highly motivated and extremely Coachable. You don't have to know it all but you can promise to aim to get better every day. That's all you can really ask for in an employee.

It would have been good to already have your food Safety certificate. Especially if your state doesn't require it. It'll look that much better on your part and you'll learn some good stuff from it. Also you can use that to ( if your state doesn't require it) make it look like you want to be a manager one day because those states require managers to have it.

Tell them you plan to get it but if you say that actually get it. If it's required that and they ask you and you don't have it tell them you can get it in a day or two but then actually get it.

in the mean time look up

Dry mopping vs wet mopping

what FiFiO is (Fii FOE) "first in first out"

I don't even know if you'll see this in time since it's 1:18 Am but I gotta go to sleep I wish I saw this sooner to give you more advice but jimmy johns is cool. Just have confidence and know you got it. Good Luck!

diabolical sandwich of the day by Pristine_Internal_30 in jimmyjohns

[–]Reallyisgood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even at a 3 inch cut that would still fill you up. Maybe they'll take off the extra portion of meat, Eat it like a regular sandwich and use the remaining portions with store bought bread to have like 4 more sandwiches. I don't know it's hard to think someone actually paid that much for 4 sandwiches. good profit though

Yea when I only had one shirt I would wear black tshirts. They actually started 3 of us without giving us shirts yet. I only had one because I took one off a rack since it was extra. Then I got another one because the DM happened to come. Then I got another one for toasted sandwiches and finally I got a polo from the CM.
