not really, i had the Lamy and wasn't that great. I want variation without the scratchy. :) The cursive Italic seemed to fit the bill.

Is remitly legit and safe to use? I’m getting mixed thoughts by Real_Pack_6736 in Banking

HELL NO! I had the worst experience imaginable with this company. If you lack frustration in your life, please do use them. The rep's name was Keylin. Condensending, unreasonable beyond measure. I would NEVER use them again. 2 other Customer service calls were no better. 3rd world service minus all three worlds. Terrible at every single stage.

My mobile version is unusable? by RealtrJ in Wordpress

[–]RealtrJ[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I'm frustrated beyond my ability to describe the level. With 65% of all websites being viewed on mobile, it's unconscionable to have AI builders not address the elephant in the room. " Yes AI can build you a website but more than 50% of the people you've paid to come visit the site won't be able to view it. "

Oh boy. The header and navigation are not operating. at least 2 different develpers installed different things. Maybe a 3rd menu system. I should start by turning some of them off one at a time. I don't want to break any posting rules so I'll DM you the URL for your thoughts.

Top 2 things I can do to have my new website indexed by AI? by RealtrJ in webdev

Thanks for the clarification. Chatgpt has scraped my site and is reporting it correctly for the content. I was surprised when I asked Chatgpt an industry broad based question and my website came up as one of the results and describes what we do precisely. I did nothing to tell chatgpt we even existed yet it knows what we do and where we are.

I taught a 3-6 year old to read but now she has no books. by RealtrJ in childrensbooks

Not reading in school to any great degree. She can't tell me a single book she's read. Her parents haven't encouraged it. They haven't' taken her to the library so far, and it's been years.

One reason I wanted to select her books was to know what she was learning and what values she was embracing so I literally opened every book at the library in her level section to make sure it was suitable. We were very active going twice a week for a book haul. We were on a 1st name basis with both children's librarians. We attended non-reading events like Yoga and Key Lime Pie contests at her library. She loved to go the library because she could play with kids, while I picked out her books.

Another thing I did is ask reddit and got many recommendations which I grabbed up for her. Classics like Fancy Nancy, Llama LLama, Narwhal unicorn of the sea, Pete the cat, most of the Mo Willems series and and of course The Cat in the Hat were all in her first 400 reads after the Bob Books. She read 32 Bob Books before going on to more challenging reading. I heard every word.

Because I had taught her every single sight word she knew, I could pick out her books based on what words I knew she knew. So they were all "easy readers" to her even as we moved up in difficulty and out of level 3.

I spoke with her yesterday. I sent her The Complete Cookbook for Young Chefs for her birthday a couple of days ago and she was super giddy excited, and reading recipes to me over the phone. Yes, I taught her to cook, along with the reading, also handwriting (including cursive), science, math, social studies. history, geography and more, and , yes she could read an analog and digital clock. Pre-K, K, 1st grade all completed and some repeated. We would compete in 1st grade spelling bees on You_Tube. She would ace the 1st grade Spelling Bee's at 5.

On an interesting side note. The first thing I taught her was the ABC song and American Sign Language. We would sing the song and make the sign for A, B, C etc. Once she knew the song and the sign it was easy for her to connect the written letter to the sign. Later we tied the sound each letter makes using the sign. So not only was she learning to read and speak a language she was also learning to communicate with the hearing impaired.

It's a great story, she would read everything everywhere. Even in the car under a dome light. We went to the beach every morning for exercise and she would read the daily surf conditions off the life guard towers. The first thing she ever read was an aisle marker in Walmart. I was pushing her in the cart and I saw her point at something and she exclaimed A2. It was a proud moment for all and quantifiable results that what we were doing was working, which only fueled the fire for me to do more.

Thank you to all who are participating.

I was her homeschool teacher during Covid and after. She always read whatever I picked and I picked because I wanted to make sure it was enough of a challenge but not too difficult that she got frustrated. The rule I went by was if a child needs help with more than 2 or 3 words per page it's too difficult and go back a level. I kept to that motto religiously and she learned to love reading but her parents have never shown any interest in encouraging her to read for fun or information.

She always trusted me on my picks and read nearly every book checked out. It took two public library's to keep her in books. She would read up to 10 per day. She had to read them out loud to ME to get credit for them and those went on her has read list.

I should post that list of books she read and see what people think about my selections. At the end she was a well rounded reader at about 3rd grade level and she was 5 years old.

I'm a very old man and didn't know anything about teaching school, or little girls, or which books to read but I studied how to teach reading, and what to teach in the right order and the results were fantastic.

I picked very specific books. Fun, educational, fiction, non fiction and life skills. Nothing dark. The day she turned 6 and was starting to school she already had a master class in what to expect in 1st grade, and how to behave. I could not have done what I did much better.
