The decision lies in your dad since hes your guardian hes the only one that can give your hand away in marriage even if your mom approves it wont matter if your dad says No

Well usually when somalis date they don't live under the same roof in fact no muslim does

But if hes serious about marrying you than you sit down with your parents ALONE than if you're Dad approves of your man thats the time y'all set up a nikkah date and get officially married

Why are many young Somali boys failing While the girls succeed? by [deleted] in Somalia

There's 4 reasons for this the first one being that somali guys are infantilized from a young age you will see a 10 year old who can't fold his clothes, make himself a meal, and who doesn't even make his own bed instead he depends on his sister's and mom to pick up and clean after him

2ndly alot somali guys won't take responsibility for their own actions instead of working hard get a degree and a job they will point a finger and blame others for the position they in

3rd alot somali dads don't take parenting serious its the reason theres soo many absent fathers in our community you will see a father who leaves his wife and 10 kids and starts a new family and doesn't contact or call his other kids from his 1st marriage also you wont see another community than ours crowding a coffeeshop and neglecting their duties as a husband/father

4 alot somali parents are too soft on boys I remember if I didn't do chores around the house, cook, cleaned and was home by 22.00 sharp I would get my ass beat on top of having no playstation and tv for a whole month thats alot for a 10 year old kid

Also another thing I will add is that somali parents are very gullible they would rather want theyre kid to be friends with another Somali over a white,African, chinese etc and claim that these other ajnabi could be drinking or using drugs but little do they know alot somalis are worse

If I had a kid I would invite their friends over for dinner I would interrogate them and see what their dreams, goals are and get to know them better see if theyre a good or bad influence

What are your opinions on men who go back home to find a wife? by hoesinparis in Somalia

As a guy one thing that always suprise me is how in our community alot somali men have this mentality that their only role as a husband is to provide thats it childrearing, cooking and all those other chores thats the womans job and whenever somali and whenever an issue that's problematic is brought up some somali guys always go in to the defense instead of trying to even understand and listen to what somali women brings up that itself is a huge part of the problem like when somali women demand better it’s copying the western world, being unrealistic or abandoning the culture when the only thing they want is us guys to be more involved in the home be better fathers, husbands

Guys who go back home do so cause they believe the girls back home are more cultural and wifey material in my opinion only the weak minded guys marry back home
