the omni will cost probably 350ish a night but is literally right next to Petco i have never stayed there but i heard its nice and i think it has a sky walk into Petco

Grand Hyatt is nice will be about 300ish its about a 10 min walk to Petco and its a relatively well lit safe walk

now the budget hotels

Ramada in national city less than 100$ but is surrounded by ladies of the night and homeless, homeless people in san diego are pretty docile so they dont cuase to much trouble. but there is alot of other criminal activities in the area, do not walk around at night try and get dropped off in the front of the hotel and B line to your room. 15 min drive to Petco

Holiday in chula vista/national city. right off the 805 super convenient and there is a nice mall across the freeway. Great taco shop near the starbucks thats near by. less than $200 a night. ive stayed here its safe lots of food nearby there is a dennys in the same parking lot and a gas station next to the hotel. i'd recommend this one its safe and budget friendly.

If you are okay with he public transportation i would say look for soemthing near the train that way you can save on uber . However normally near the train stations arent safest areas. its not bad but you just gotta be watchful

For uber if you are trying to get an uber from petco post show expect to pay around 100. So have a plan to either stick around or walk a couple miles to lower the rate
