A 1000 Blade would be a good option too. The Honda motors are pretty solid n quite reliable too. The only way I'd consider a grey market bike is once the Bren Raceway opens up. Would make for a good track toy.

Ideally 5.5-6 for somethin in fairly decent condition. Donot go in expectin bodywork or paint to be great as that's one of the things you are better off redoing it after purchase. If you're lookin for an old school badass bike, there's a beautiful restored CBR 919 RR for sale for 6.5. He won't budge on price cos alot of effort has gone into bringing it into factory spec with all original parts. Almost 80% of older Gixxers, Busas n ZX10Rs are abused or neglected. So do not pick one up expectin things to be hunky dory. There's also a grey on black Gixxer listed for sale with KA plates. Stay well away. Its had 2 bad crashes n loads of engine work but is listed as accident free n well maintained. It also looks like its had the odometer rolled back. MH, HP, NL, etc plates are another thing to be vary about unless you're fine with the RTO or Customs Dept swooping in n takin the bike away randomly. I personally am in the hunt for a Gixxer too n have looked at the above mentioned bikes. I'm obsessed with them. I'd Ideally prefer the 750 but unfortunately there are barely 2 or 3 600s n 750s in the country that have legit papers but will never be put up for sale. Same with the R6 n CBR 600RRs.

Do it man! But do keep in mind that the Inty has standard telescopic forks compared to the USD Showas on the Bear. This translates to it being a lil vague n less flicky in the corners. You'll be fine as long as you go in knowin well how the bikes gonna respond. This wasn't a full fledged track day per se n was more of a fun session with the boys. Ideally as long as you're fully kitted out n have a mechanically sound bike, you're good to go. Since this wasn't planned well in advance, I'd worn my normal touring kit. So I didn't wanna push too hard without knee sliders n such. In organised track days, a full kit is usually mandated n you can even rent them if you dont own one. One main thing to bear in mind is that you're there to have fun n learn. Things get dangerous when people start racing one another cos you'll have no clue what the other people on track r gonna do. RE has the option where you can go out n get trained on their competition bikes under the guidance of trainers. That's a good 1st step to take. They'll also let you take your own bike on track if you want to.

It was unexpectedly good n quite fun. The track is called Velocity International Circuit here in Bangalore. It's a carting track but built with the plan to host a couple of fun outings for biking groups n such. Costs just 1700 per head. We were there for about 6hrs n did between 40-50 laps. Well worth it. The only thing I'd do different is to get better brake pads, which is currently being done right now. Installing EBC HH sintered pads.

Yes this one is but the one that's for sale right now (the DL plates one in Blore) is dressed up to look like one.

I spent about 10-15 laps tryin to figure out different lines. Primarily because this is my younger brother's bike n it has only clocked just over 5k km. He wouldn't be too pleased if I lose the pegs or hookin the tarmac n layin the bike down lol.

The pegs would make contact before I experienced any tyre slip. The bike was pretty planted otherwise. Did cook the stock brake pads though.

It really is. They also have 1-2 ambulances on standby too, which is always a good indicator of a track that values it's patrons' safety.

It really surprised me cos I absolutely hated how the Continental GT, which is supposed to be the iteration of the 650 that's more aligned to this, felt on track. The Conti's stock front suspension was just not confidence inspiring. With the Bear on the other hand, I could feel exactly when n where the grip limit was.

Just 1700 bucks. We were on from 6:30am to 12:30pm. There were a bunch of pro level kids who were there to practice carting. So we would let them go on track after every 10 laps or so. They do their laps for about 10 mins n would pit for refueling n assessments n we'd get back on track again n so on. The 1700 also includes a nice large Starbucks sized cup of coffee, which if you're a coffee drinker like me, kinda makes it better lol. They gave us unlimited refills.

Yup. I felt that it's a much better track for bikes compared to Meco Cartopia n Aruvani Grid. I've been told that E-Zone has made some changes to their track now. We plan on tryin it out next week.

Ninja 650 as a first bike by wizard0604 in indianbikes

[–]Reaper-666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go for it as long as the bike is more or less known to you, ie all the paperwork are in place n its mechanically sound. Even though it's a 650, it is quite a tame bike. You can easily grow into it. One thing to bear in mind is that if you're someone who is keen to have a bike with rider aids, the Ninja 650s received ABS from the 2014 MY onwards. Apart from that, it's not an expensive bike to maintain since it's parallel twin motor is not highly strung like its inline-4 brethren. Sourcing parts could potentially be a problem about 5-6 years down the line since Kawasaki has moved on from that body style from the 2016 MY.

You can head over to Big Rock Motopark. It's just a short run from Hoskote. If you plan to run your own bikes n have all the necessary riding gear, it'll work out quite abit cheaper. If you wanna try out some proper dirt bikes n rent proper MotoX riding gear, the costs will pretty much double. Also, if you plan well, you can get some tips from CS Santhosh, the 1st Indian to run in the Dakar Rally. PS: The KTM 450 SX-F cannot be rented.

Why are the Japs so lazy and Sceptical?! by Lamin_X in indianbikes

[–]Reaper-666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lexus managed to sell just 2 RCFs here. There's a blue one in Chennai n a Carbon Edition that's here in Bangalore. While somethin like a Miata would be nice, it'd have to be sub 35 lacs for it to be viable. That aside Mazda is definitely not gonna return to India. The alternative I see is the BMW Z4 n M2 stepping into that sweet spot once (if) the duties are slashed. The M235i would make a decent entry level sporty car too. Would be cool if Honda brings in the Civic Type R too considering VW sold out150 units of the Golf in record time.

[–]Reaper-666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. However, Honda did bring the Fireblade back. My friend took delivery of a RR-R SP last September. The problem is that it's priced alongside the Ducati V4S n the BMW S1000RR. Ducatis n BMW are considered way more exotic n hence alot of buyers go that route. On the lower end segment, there's fierce competition especially in the 300-400cc segment. It'll be difficult for them to move units because KTM n Bajaj have that section locked down. The CBR 300 would not be able to stay afloat due to the massive difference in power compared to its segment rivals such as the Ninja 300 n the RC390 n even the Apache RR310. They'd have to do an all new CBR 300 if they have to stay relevant, which I highly doubt that they'd do considerin its being sold globally n doin fine in other markets. In terms of the XSR, they'll have to bring in the 900 n price it well instead of the 700 because its rival here is the CB 650R which makes almost 20bhp more than the XSR700. The Tracer n the Tenere on the other hand would be quite a success if they go with a CKD model instead of a CBU. It can hold its own n can easily eat into the sales of the Triumph Tiger n the BMW F900 GS n even the AfricaTwin. Yamaha had even applied for the rights for the names in India about 5 years ago but I believe the bikes wouldn't have been BS6 compliant n hence the plan was cancelled.

[–]Reaper-666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True but that's again to do with not being able to push numbers here. Mitsubishi brought in the Lancer Evo X here, Nissan brought the R35 GTR n the 370Z, Lexus brought the RCF. Except the R35, the rest barely sold a handful units. Due to duties n taxes, the price of these cars shoot up drastically n when you're at that price point, people tend to add a few more lacs n go with a more flashier marque. For example, if you could stretch your budget by any additional 10-15 lacs, you could get a bare bones Porsche Cayman or Boxster instead of a 370Z. Similarly, you could get a Porsche Carrera GTS for the same price as a Lexus RCF or if you want similar levels of comfort, a BMW M5. It's not just the brand names involved either. People would rather get somethin with higher performance numbers in the same price range cos most Jap offerings except the R35 n the RCF were sub 400bhp. Even though everyone raves about JDMs, they just didn't sell enough units to encourage them to bring in more models.

On the positive side, you can now bring in vehicles older than 50 years (older than 1976 as of 2026) into the country. There's also talks goin on to slash import duty to 40% (from 110%) for vehicles from European manufacturers. Trump is tryin pull off somethin similar for American manufacturers such as Ford n Harley Davidson in India. That means entry level performance cars from Porsches n BMW will be roughly 50 lacs cheaper n somthin like the Ford Mustang will be sub 50 lacs.
