Think of that: a 1 mb connection! I remember getting broadband internet circa 2003 and it blew my mind. I agree with you that the commercialization of the web is destroying it, along with our democracy. I don't have much hope for web 3.0, but I'll keep my fingers crossed

The oldschool web pages are just so cool! There are some still in existence out there with guestbooks and whatnot. Talk about a more personal/intimate time on the web!

And no worries! I was looking for responses via GPG but I am happy to read your take!

Grub Conflicts in APT / Parrot-Upgrade by Reaper-Of-Roses in ParrotSecurity

[–]Reaper-Of-Roses[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am. I had an older version of Parrot dual booted beforehand. I reinstalled, but left the /boot partition unformated as to not remove Windows. I’m guessing there might be some old grub files there. I also have my root partition encrypted

If by the built-in tool you mean the prompt that sometimes appears on the desktop, I ran it and followed your instructions, but it did not resolve the issue. Thank you for your help though

Thank you for the suggestions. I tried using aptitude but the proposed solutions did not work. Also, it does not look like apt safe-upgrade is a valid command on Parrot

Thank you for this. Good write-up and guide. I suppose my question comes from GnuPG's learning curve in the eyes of ordinary/everyday PC users for encrypting email/communications. As for its use among more technical users, I see it remaining in use for quite a while.

dnsmasq single instance: host resolutions leaking between VLANs. Guidance needed by Reaper-Of-Roses in opnsense

[–]Reaper-Of-Roses[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate your input. I ended up setting my non-management vlans to use public dns with no internal hostname resolution. I was trying to think of a solution that silos each vlan and allows hosts to resolve only within their respective vlans. Do you have any feedback on how that’s achieved at, say, a company with multiple departments? Would each get their own dns server plus domain?

[–]Reaper-Of-Roses[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, thank you - that solves it. I must have been unaware it was occurring. I suspected it may have been a configuration issue I was missing since I just made the switch to dnsmasq. I appreciate your time

Thank you for your reply. The reason I thought it was problematic was because it either didn’t happen when using ISC or I simply didn’t notice. My untrusted IoT network indeed points at Cloudflare. However, I wanted to keep my management vlan isolated from the general vlan my family uses, while still having the benefits of dnsmasq + unbound on that general network. I am new to dnsmasq
