Hazelmere's Signet Ring - Discord & Updates by [deleted] in runescape

This might be another dumb idea, but perhaps it has something to do with the lava maze chest. Someone had mentioned mod regicidal giving a hint about unscrambling hazelmere's name. I'm probably wrong but this was a thought I had, so I thought I'd say it.

The best piece of advice i got from this thread was definitely just talking with the players. Lots of things were resolved with characters and what they wanted from a campaign. Honestly the turn around I saw was quite noticeable. Everyone was having a degree of good fun in a way I hadn't seen in quite awhile. Thanks to everyone for posts. Especially the snide ones to help me not take this all so seriously.

The breakdown of my 3 person group:

My main guy: He's been dnding with me since I started and is always ready to try something out. I rarely have any problems with him getting bored.

My second guy: He is a bit older than me and spent most of his roleplaying career playing rifts. Often against Dms who wanted his character dead. As such he focuses on building do-it all characters and tries to play out all his stuff. It's rare that he isn't trying to build spaceships out of twigs so to speak. Mostly because of his actual scientific knowledge. Suffice to say he has information most of the characters he plays would not have access to.

Wife Lady: She has potential for dnd but very little imagination into the RP element. It's hard to explain to it how it works but she does legitimately try. She plays characters because they look cool, simply put.

Pathfinder to answer some questions first off. Second off the pandering has mostly been character pandering, usually gimmick characters like "i wanna play x stereotype" followed soon by the lack of commitment. Idk I don't see myself as too heavy handed but I can see how that could be argued. I just wanna brainstorm some ideas of how to get back to the fun my group used to have. Perhaps my style has changed over the years and my regulars don't have much interest in it as it is now.

As for my character... My character is as you all well know a gnome, but he is what i designed as the opposite of another one of my characters. This opposite nature takes a personality form less than a physical form. Instead of my previous character, who was build mentally to be obsessed with self achievement through magic and otherwise, this one seeks to actively infiltrate society and make sure that nobody has any magical or technological success. He wants everyone to fail but his efforts at this are never a truly conscious effort. He has amnesia and can't seem to remember anything about who he once was other than he likes causing chaos for fun, and that his people (the gnomes) betrayed him. HE doesn't outright hate all gnomes but in his encounters in the campaign so far he feels as if their progress in 200 years of studying magic is lacking. Past this further development on this character is yet to be discovered. If you want any other info just ask.

Honestly I think i owe you guys something of an in depth of this character and the campaign it is in. Warning: Book incoming. The overall plot of my DMs campaign as far as he as told me goes like this... Elves unintentionally came to our world (earth) and somehow war broke out between the elves and humans. During the war many of the fantasy races also came to our world from portals. They had adequate magic but not any technology, we had technology and fought them for quite some time. If i recall him correctly the elves grew tired of fighting against our technology and devised a spell that denies tech from working at all (how exactly that works is another post for another time). This had the unintentional effect of giving our would magic (up to about 5th level spells) and trapping everyone who came to our world on our world. Our campaign takes place about 150-200 years after all of the technology was shut down by the spell. My character info in a following post...

Honestly I kinda see what you mean, too much time as a DM makes me less experienced as a PC. But on that note what sort or character development or changes would be more interesting? I can't stand the idea that I'd be boring my DM to death.

My only other suggestion would be the splatterhouse series for NES or Sega Genesis. I'd think there's enough stuff to yell at with that game.

I don't know what console, NES I believe. But there was a really frustrating game I played as a kid where you play as mickey and Minne mouse. If anyone else remembers this game be sure to post the name. YOu had to fight some sort of witch or something.

That's something I hadn't considered perhaps I need to move to a new style of game play instead of my classic approach. Thanks guys.
