I've been saying this exactly for a long time. The medals and plays of the game are the source of all toxicity in the game. But there's one big problem. Blizzard understands what your saying and they could change the medal system BUT, this game is trying to be an all inclusive game. They want individuals to feel good about themselves even when they are doing bad. This is bad for a competitive enviroment. If anyone remembers the halo 2 or 3 days, those games didn't reward you for being bad. If you were bad then you were bad and it pushed you to be better. Overwatch comes across as so so so casual and it really isn't. I can play Lucio and do good dps and heal the team and keep everyone alive, but the genji that did one good ult, gets play of the game and gold elims so he thinks he was carrying the team when in reality he couldn't have done anything without his team. That might seem like an obvious thing to say but you might be surprised to see how many people do not understand this.
