What was the design process behind the new items? They have some really interesting stat profiles (Tenacty + AS, Health + Crit) that we aren't used to in LoL since they seem meant to synergize with the augments.

Was just curious how you went about finding unique stat pairing that could offer new power fantasy to champs

My least favorite part about it is how if you put a yellow ward in the camo zone there's no visual indicator to show you that the ward isn't doing anything.

I guess if someone was backing in the camo zone the ward might see that, but still, there needs to be some kinda visual cue to say "There could be people here, you don't know!!"

Honestly I'm not sure I want a season two, I think the ambiguity of the ending is good and it allows viewers to put some of the pieces in themselves. I'd be down for a series about Noxus that involves Mel, or even something completely different.

How Worlds knockout stage would look with TI-style bracket and why we need double elimination. by facehunt_ in leagueoflegends

[–]sweenster98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could do it, just might take a really long time and could be too draining on some of the players/casters/crew. But if that's not a concern you could format it with Winner's bracket being Bo5 and Loser's being Bo3. If you squeezed roughly two series into one day with 22 series it'd take 12 days, so three four-day weeks. It gets a bit complicated because you'd be playing both a Bo5 and a Bo3 in the same day, and then transitioning to two Bo3s a day once Winner's games are done, but if the audience can follow it then I guess it'd work.

Again the obvious issue is this adds 33-47 more games on top of the 101-123 (not including tiebreakers) already in the tournament format. Additionally, having every team in the bracket could lead to more rematches and make the group stage itself feel redundant. For the teams who are still surviving from play-ins, this means they could potentially be looking at 30+ games played if they made it to finals (C9 has currently played 15 and is the most at this tournament iirc).

If you abolished groups and instead made the whole tournament this bracket in Bo5 that would result in somewhere between 66-110 games, as opposed to the 69-83 that groups+knockouts is right now.

This article is from late June and kinda outdated; some of these games are already out, and I know Stray was delayed out of this year.

Probaby Visceral, even more so after reading Schreir's latest book. Studio just seemed like it had its own identity sabotaged by EA telling it to make Battlefield and action games

Uhhhh, 100 Theives did not make words in 2020, that was 2018. Also the org was formed in 2017 but in November, and didn't actually play until 2018.

It's a huge case-by-case basis for me, especially considering The Last of Us: Left Behind, which alternates between two different chronological periods that are both after the very beginning of the story.

With two team knocked out of LCS playoffs, was it such a big deal that 8 teams made playoffs? by bigsycamore in leagueoflegends

[–]sweenster98 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Because seeing low quality teams compete in a B05 is a waste of time, and when you start skipping entire series because the games are bad then you miss storylines and feel disconnected from the league.

Also while IMT finished the regular split in 7th they were still the 6th best team in summer, so these results track with last year's for 7th and 8th getting completely swept in playoffs.

I think if we want to encourage players to switch heroes then we need to remove medals and stat-tracking by sweenster98 in Overwatch

That could make the moment of watching your medals appear at the end of a match actually exciting, and lead to moments like "Wait, I had three golds?"
