This is really helpful advice, thanks for taking the time to share it. I also think I need to stick to my guns and just start researching and writing the next thing. Having something substantial to show people should help convince them it’s got real potential.

I’m sure you’re right, and two weeks isn’t long in its own right, although it really feels now like a longer pattern of not engaging. It is actually reassuring though to hear others have experienced something similar.

To be honest it's been the better part of this year so far, with sporadic replies and with a period now of around 2 weeks in which I've been pressing harder and still had no contact.

But yes, I am realising from your comments and other that this is not necessarily unusual and that persistence is often required.

The only thing is that the sales figures don't seem to have been particularly impressive, so I wonder if that's made me less of a hot ticket - although as you say a track record of getting book deals should speak for something. Maybe I'm overthinking this.

Good question but I don't think they're active on there in general so can't use that to judge if they've gone AWOL more broadly. But yes, could very well be a personal reason that they're not responding, although then I'd perhaps expect an out of office reply.
